Polka Dot Pals Andy

Here’s a simple birthday card that I created using Polka Dot Pals Andy from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  He’s a bit green but I think you’re going to love the inspiration none the less!  LOL  He has probably stayed up all night and day playing his new game – which is something I’ve sort of down lately (the staying up all night and day, not the new game).  I think my kids would be along side of me too (and they’d be playing the new game)!  So if I don’t feel like I’m making any sense lately… we’ll, now you know why.  He he he

This was a fun little guy to color and would be just as much fun to color him a non-green color.  But you see, Jennifer colored a little piggy (she went Hot Wild with Extreme Color Placement!) so I had to respond with something – and she did such an awesome job with hers that I had to take the non-serious route and came up with coloring Kermit!

Polka Dot Pals Ryker

Today is a very special day as we’ve not only combined the Super Saturday post with some awesome Guests, but we have a very special fundraiser going on too!  My daughters, Cassandra and Lydia, are participating in a “Jump Rope for Heart” activity at their school where kids learn jump rope skills and raise money for the American Heart Association

Learning about a healthy heart at school really hit home for her girls, especially when it came with a connection to a few close family members.  For example, their cousin Ryker had open heart surgery when he was only 6-months-old!  He is now a teen and doing great!  He loves many activities including photography and was the inspiration for the new image I has drawn for today… meet Polka Dot Pals Ryker.

I’ve combined this image with Dandelions from Make it Crafty.
This image is available in the Little Miss Muffet Stamp store but the best part about him is you can also help Barbara’s daughters in their fundraiser!  How, you might ask?  There are two ways!  First, for every PDP Ryker purchase, LMMS will donate $2.00 to Cassandra and Lydia’s fundraiser!  Secondly, you can also donate directly on the American Heart Association website to their individual fundraiser page by visiting these links:  Casssndra’s Donation Page and Lydia’s Donation Page.

But wait, there’s more!  That’s not the only image you’ll get in the package – there are two other very special images.  Those two were drawn and colored by Cassandra and Lydia themselves!  They’ve entered their artwork into the T-shirt Design Contest for next year’s Jump Rope for Heart.  Maybe they’ll win, maybe they won’t, but the fun was in creating and now you can create with them too!  Both colored and uncolored versions are included.

Thank you for being a part of this fundraiser and we hope you can take action to have a healthy heart even if it isn’t via jump rope.  Spread the word and share your creations online in the current LMMS Challenge and/or in the FaceBook LMMS Group too!

Looking for other activity based stamps to play with this weekend?  Then you might also enjoy these other Little Miss Muffet Stamps that feature heart healthy activities such as bicycling, sports, winter fun, playing and even house cleaning!  Oh yeah!

Polka Dot Pals Neva

If you’ve been following Make it Crafty on FaceBook you might have seen everyone share their Christmas Trees on that page.  There area so many gorgeous trees out there that I almost felt the urge to redecorate mine in a different style.  But I was saved because the kid’s already decorated it and there was no way I was going through all *that* again!  LOL  Anyway, if you posted your picture then Zoe generously sent out images to share in the Christmas giving spirit and one of those images was this stack of Christmas Pressies.  I love that they’re versatile for all occasions but I decided I wanted to go all out Christmas!

The image I paired it up with is also a freebie that can be earned at Little Miss Muffet Stamps named Polka Dot Pals Neva.  I had colored her face and added a cheek and nose tutorial in the LMMS FB group for those who want to give your beadie-eyed-friends a little more character.  😀  I hope to post another one for eyes but with Zoe’s challenge a while back, I think many have already experimented with those.  For this image I did an impromptu step-by-step coloring guide which you can also find in the LMMS FB group.

The stack of presents were colored mainly in reds, greens and white and the character was done in blues and pinks.  To help bring the images together I added a bit of blue and pinks to some of the outer packages then made sure to add reds to the package she was holding.  Finally I assembled the card (trying) to use the December Make it Crafty sketch – however, the image was so large that I ended up jumbling up the pieces and making something else work.

Lastly, I added some embellishments that I hadn’t used in a while including the chipboard, micro beads and cheesecloth.  The card is still reasonably flat so mailing it is still an easy possibility.  I hope you’ve enjoyed this bit of inspiration and thanks for checking out my project!  😀

Cheeks and Nose Tutorial

I should be doing a million other things at the moment but I finished the tutorial I was working on and couldn’t resist sharing the step by steps and colors!  I have the full image colored and can’t wait to get it on a card so I can share that as well but in the mean time, I hope this proves to be handy.

The image I used is Polka Dot Pals Leilani from Little Miss Muffets Stamps.  It has a typical dot-for-eyes face and I’ve colored it in using Copic markers.  The colors are listed on the image for each step and shows how to shape and form the cheeks and nose area.  I also have another tutorial for the face that you can see HERE; it uses a different image and different skin colors.

They say pictures are worth a thousand words so I’m not going into detail on each step.  However, with that said, just leave a comment if you have questions on a particular step and I’ll respond with more details.  😀  Thanks for dropping by and have a great Wednesday!

Polka Dot Pals Peggy

We have a fantastic release over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps that you’re going to fall in love with!  Why?  We have new Polka Dot Pals to play with!!  Plus a few feline friends that have joined the mix.  🙂  You’ll want to make sure to visit the LMMS Blog to see the inspiration from the design team as they have done a superb job with these images!  I on the other hand, flubbed coloring my image but hopefully you’ll still be impressed.  LOL

First of all, my project uses the new Polka Dot Pals Peggy and Polka Dot Pals Feline Sitting that were released today at Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  I’ve also used the Park Glen Door Metal Die in the background (also from LMMS) plus a few elements from Make it Crafty to create the this scene, which includes Ivy Ribbon Swing and elements from Whimsical Digi Elements.

My experimenting was on the face.  Last time I tried to do a face with an open mouth (click HERE), the mouth just didn’t look right.  So this time I used inspiration from the picture on this site HERE (look for the boy eating the tomato) and I did better than last time.  However, the rest of the face makes her look like an old lady!  Yikes!  O’well, I’ll try again next time and hopefully have better luck.  LOL

Polka Dot Pals Lydie by Zoe

I have a special project that I’m posting today which was colored and created by Zoe!  She was in cahoots with Faye about this so when it arrived in the mail, I was completely, and pleasantly surprised!  This image is Polka Dot Pals Lydie from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and if you don’t recognize it, that’s ok, because I didn’t at first either!  LOL  It’s true… these Polka Dot Pal images are perfect for adding facial features which makes it possible for each one to look unique.  Check out how incredible Zoe did with this one…

I love all the details Zoe was able to include and her coloring no-lines technique is always spectacular!  Not only did she have fun adding a face, but I adore how she added details to the hair too.  Check out these close-ups…

I don’t know about you but coloring like this actually inspires me to sneak into my craft room to steel a few hours of my day!  Hopefully you’ve been inspired as much as I have and thank you Zoe (and Faye) for sending me a snail-mail smile.  😀
