Pastry Girl

It’s another challenge at Lollipop Crafts and we have something in store for you – the challenge is to create a card using a single layer! This will give you lots of opportunity to work on coloring and/or embellishments. I made my card using an embossing folder frame and stamped the Pastry Girl image inside.

The paper I used was Gina K’s Pure Luxury cardstock because I didn’t want the colors to bled through. It’s not my favorite paper to use but is a necessity with single layers. Here’s another try coloring the chipboard accents by Maya Road and this time I tried black Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink. I thought it would be more pearl-ized but they turned out flat and almost a medium gray. So I covered it all up with Sticklets which was a passable compromise.

Dance Girl

I made this card using Dance Girl from InStyle Stamps for their InSpiration Challenge. This time I used the orange and yellow glow from the pumpkins and incorporated into the background of the dancing wall. This is the third card in a serieries where I’ll combine these images and embossing folder on a white background… so more to come! The other challenge was an Anything Goes with lots of Red.

Did you know? Slinky or “Lazy Spring” is a toy consisting of a helical spring that stretches and can bounce up and down and can perform a number of tricks. In 1943, Richard James, a naval mechanical engineer stationed at the William Cramp and Sons shipyards in Philadelphia, was developing springs that could support and stabilize sensitive instruments aboard ships in rough seas. James accidentally knocked one of the springs from a shelf, and watched as the spring “stepped” in a series of banana spilts, to a stack of books, to a tabletop, to the floor, where it re-coiled itself and stood upright.

I made this card using Love Couple by InStyle Stamps to participate in the October Color Challenge. The challenge is to create a card or project using the provided photo as the color inspiration, which included golds, reds, silvers and blues. I’ve used this embossing folder before for a similar card but it’s perfect for a quick simple card!

Did you know? The origins of the standard railroad gauge considerably predate the Roman Empire, and may even predate the invention of the wheel, having to do with road rutting. The initial impetus for the ruts probably came from the grooves made by sleds and slide cars dragged over the surfaces of ancient trackways. Since early carts had no steering and no brakes, negotiating hills and curves was dangerous, and cutting ruts into the stone helped them negotiate the hazardous parts of the roads.

Snowflake Chloe

I made this card using Snowflake Chloe from InStyle Stamps which will be released later this month! It’s rare to combine red with snowflakes but the decorative paper looked like snowflakes to me so this is how the color combination came to be. Besides, in Texas we hardly ever have “blue” or white winters, just a lot of frost and frozen ice! The challenge entered was a cute holiday card.

The North Pole, also known as the Geographic North Pole or Terrestrial North Pole, is located in the middle of the Arctic Ocean amidst waters that are almost permanently covered with constantly shifting sea ice. It defines geodetic latitude 90° North and because all lines of longitude converge there, its longitude can be defined as any degree value.
