Marvin with Daisies by Lydia

I think I started something by posting Cassandra’s card last week and so this is one of Lydia’s many cards from this week. She did almost everything by herself but needed a little help with the bow and Liquid Pearls on the corner. She’s been making little cards with me all week. ;D

Hansel with Flowers

It has been so much fun being on The Stamping Bazaar design team and the gals have been real gems and a pleasure to get to know. Sadly, this is my last week on the design team so I thought I’d make a card with one of the first stamps Marina released last year. I made this card with Hansel with Flowers and enlarged him so I could work with the details. If your interested in being on the design team for the next three months, then head on over because The Stamping Bazaar is having a Design Team Call. Enjoy!

Did you know? Mercado de Sonora (Sonora Market) is a mercado público, or city-established traditional market, located just southeast of the historic center of Mexico City in the Colonia Merced Balbuena neighborhood. It was established in the 1950s with a number of other similar institutions in order to help regulate retail commerce in the city. This market has specialized in a variety of merchandise such as pottery, party items, and live animals — and the two which make it notable, herbal medicine and items related to magic and the occult.

Did you know? Julie Powell (born April 20, 1973) is an American author best known for her book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen. While working for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation in August 2002, Powell began the Julie/Julia Project, a blog chronicling her attempt to cook all the recipes in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. The blog quickly gained a large following, and Powell signed a book deal with Little, Brown and Company.

I made this card using Mikey from The Stamping Bazaar. The challenge this week is mono-chromatic of course! I chose to go with a black and white color scheme and used the Copic Toner range spectrum. All of the papers I had on had were slightly cream or off-white in color so I used E50 to color the background which also helps give the image a slight glow.

Did you know? The violin is a string instrument, usually with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. It is the smallest, highest-pitched member of the violin family of string instruments, which includes the viola and cello. The violin is sometimes informally called a fiddle, regardless of the type of music played on it. A person who makes or repairs violins is called a luthier. The parts of a violin are usually made from different types of wood and it is usually strung with gut, nylon or other synthetic, or steel strings.

Update: I was the winner at Craft Your Days Away for this Challenge!

Louisa Party Time

The challenge this week at The Stamping Bazaar is “Bling it on!” … lots of bling! I made this carding using Louisa Part Time and this time I printed the image larger than normal. Then I added Stickels Glitter Glue, gems, and a charm for my bling. I need to make more “mail-able” cards so I tried to use all flat embellishments.

Did you know? Peppermint is a hybrid mint, a cross between the watermint and spearmint. The plant, indigenous to Europe, is now widespread in cultivation throughout all regions of the world. It is found wild occasionally with its parent species.

Horus Roasting Marshmallows

We have a fun challenge for you at The Stamping Bazaar the week! The theme is “Tags”… you can add them to your project or have the tag be your project. I made this card using Horus Roasting Marshmallows in tribute to a small campfire I’ll be enjoying this weekend – and yes, with a bag of marshmallows. 😀

The corner embellishments are laser cut chipboard embellishments covered with Liquid Pearls plus a Dew Drop. I also added a few Dew Drops around the card and used up another one of those Tim Holtz tickets that seem to last forever. Horus is one of my favorite characters so I hope you enjoy this version.

Did you know? Rinaldo is an opera by George Frideric Handel composed in 1711, and was the first Italian language opera written specifically for the London stage. The story of love, battle and redemption set at the time of the First Crusade is loosely based on Torquato Tasso’s epic poem Gerusalemme liberata (“Jerusalem Delivered”), and its staging involved many original and vivid effects. It was a great success with the public, despite negative reactions from literary critics hostile to the contemporary trend towards Italian entertainment in English theaters.

Sammy with Ball

I can’t believe it’s Friday already and really don’t know where my week has gone. ;D This week at The Stamping Bazaar we have fun challenge for you and the theme is “Spots and Stripes.” I used decorative paper for the stripes and lots of amber gems for the dots. Also for something different, I stamped and colored Sammy on Kraft paper for more of a weathered look.

Did you know? Stardust is a 300-kilogram robotic space probe launched by NASA on February 7, 1999 to study the asteroid 5535 Annefrank and collect samples from the coma of comet Wild 2. The primary mission was completed January 15, 2006, when the sample return capsule returned to earth. Did you know? Sweethearts are small heart-shaped candies sold around Valentine’s Day. Each conversation heart is printed with a message such as “Be Mine”, “Kiss Me”, “Call Me”, and “Miss You”. Necco manufactures nearly 8 billion Sweethearts per year. Necco introduced 10 new Sweethearts Conversation Hearts sayings each year which are theme inspired, for example “#1 Fan”, “Fit for Love”, and “Dream Team” (2005); “Sweet Home”, “Home Soon” and “Call Home” (2006); and “Cool Cat,” “Puppy Love,” “Love Bird,” and “My Pet” (2008). However, in 2010 and for the first time in 145 years, Sweethearts discarded all its previous phrases and asked the American public to tell us how they express their love.

Did you know? Goblin Valley is a State Park in central Utah, in the western United States. Its eminent feature is its thousands of hoodoos and hoodoo rocks, which are formations of mushroom-shaped rock pinnacles, some as high as several meters. The distinct shape of these rocks comes from an erosion-resistant layer of rock atop softer sandstone. A portion of the movie Galaxy Quest was filmed here featuring the rock monster.

It’s the last challenge in January for The Stamping Bazaar and the challenge is a sketch which has many ways to interpret it. Did you know? The Princess Bride is a 1973 fantasy novel written by William Goldman. It was originally published in the United States by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. The book combines elements of comedy, adventure, fantasy, romance and fairy tale. It is presented as if it were an abridgment of a work by S. Morgenstern, and Goldman’s ‘commentary’ asides are constant throughout. It was made into a film of the same name in 1987 by Rob Reiner.
