If you’re just tuning in, check out the previous post on all the release details and then pop into the LMMS Facebook group to catch up on everything. Today you’ll find tips on a second way to use the Polka Dot Pals Add-on Faces in case alignment is a bit jittery.

For my project, I used Polka Dot Pals Lirienne and stamped her on Balsa Wood.  However, before I did that, I wiped the ink away from the pupil of her eyes.  This truly gave her a blank face!  LOL I wanted to do that so when I used the vampire face, the eyes would have an eerie glow to them.

This is also a technique you could use if you had trouble aligning the eyes or if you wanted to use them on another type of image.  The easiest way to do this is to use a cotton swap.

I then colored my image using Prismacolor Pencils.  The skin tones were more grayish and white colors for a nice vampire glow.  The eyes and lips I did in red because I really wanted it to stand out and the white highlights help give it a finished look.  Coloring on Balsa Wood is my favorite way to use my pencils as the texture is very soft.

The rest of the card was put together with a bunch of odds and ends. Gesso was used on the back decorative paper and Make it Crafty Chipboard are some of the embellishments. I also used the metal dies Just Saying and Mini Alpha & Numbers Cutters from CC Designs.  Lastly for a bit of a fun element, I suspended the sentiment with an Action Wobbles Spring.

I’d like to share this into the following challenges:

Artistic Inspiration Challenge #189
Aurora Wings Challenge #59
My Creative Scoop Color Inspiration Link Up #27

Polka Dot Pals Lottie

Little Miss Muffet Stamps is sponsoring Graph’it Challenges today and the theme is “Anything Goes.”  For my project I used Polka Dot Pals Lottie and changed her appearance a little with Creative Color Placement.

This was colored with Prismacolor Pencils on Balsa Wood.  I forgot what my original goal was for this girl but she ended up being a raccoon girl instead.  I had fun coloring with colors I don’t normally use, and in places I don’t normally put them.  The blue hair was good for the season and complemented the purple well.

Hope you enjoyed this project and pop on over to see all the other gorgeous creations from the Graph’it team.  Have a great weekend!

Jr. Hatter Jocelyn

There is a fun new challenge over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps that is sure to fix one of your projects – or better yet, create a project just for us!  😀  The theme is “Spring Colors” and I’ve dragged out my colored pencils to join in on this one.

The image I used is Jr. Hatter Jocelyn from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  I’ve stamped it on Balsa Wood with gray then colored it with my new Polychromos Pencils.  I also used Make it Crafty dragonflies chipboard embellishments.  The rest of the card was put together with odds and ends from around my crafting space.

Thanks for coming by and I hope you get a chance to come craft with us!

Mermaid and Mason Jar

I was able to take some time out today and color up an image that has been on my wish list for quiet some time.  🙂  Why I put these two together?  I don’t know other than I wanted to color this mermaid and this jar so why not together.  LOL  These images are Sweet November images from CC Designs and were colored with Prismacolor pencils on Balsa Wood

This was a good challenge for me to try coloring metal and glass.  She is swimming in distilled water – that is instead of murky water although there is some color reflection that I’m not sure if it looks like murky water or just reflection on the glass?  Then after it was completely finished, I went back in a smeared straight lines to help it look like she was inside the glass instead of out in front.  That was a scary moment but I’m breathing ok now.  🙂

Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend!

Poinsettia Fairy

As you know the two challenges for this month are (1) coloring with teal and purple and/or (2) coloring on something non-white cardstock.   I went with both and colored the Poinsettia Fairy on a thin sheet of  Balsa Wood.  I also used the Wooden Stool from the Spring release, also by Make it Crafty.  The colors of course, are purple and teal.  This fairy was stamped in black ink then colored with Prisimacolor pencils.

The pencils were tricky to get used to because the first few layers had to be very light.  However, once the foundation was set, applying pressure with the lighter colors made these pencils blend as smooth as butter.  The background was then colored with Copic colors but I didn’t like how dark it was so I went back with some lighter pencils to help lighten it up.

Coloring on the Balsa wood was very enjoyable and I imagine I’ll do it again.  😀

Fairy Poinsettia and Tress Dancing

There is a new challenge that started this month at Make it Colourful and as usual there are two levels.  The first level is to use the colors purple and turquoise.  The harder level is to color on something other than white cardstock.  I’ve colored two images to share today, one for each challenge, and hope they inspire you to play along!

Easy Challenge – Purple & Turquoise

Hard Challenge – Colored on Balsa Wood

I’ll finish these projects and share them later on this month.  But in the mean time, get out your coloring and come play along!  😀
