This is one of those cards that came to be when I was inspired by the colors of the pattern paper. The paper I used was a nice teal color and I thought it would be perfect with a bit of pink. The stamp I used was Sonny Honeycloud Party from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. This is such a fun stamp and there are other adorable colored versions in the store that you can peek at.
So this will be a longer post than normal as I include a few extra helpful tidbits. The kit contains the supplies to recreate this card (minus the inks, markers and glue) but also includes the Sonny Honeycloud Party rubber stamp. Most of my cards are just under 6″x6″ because I can’t easily find any envelopes that can accommodate a 6″x6″ handmade card. So I trim the card base down to 5 3/4″ by 5 3/4″ and work my way down through the layers. For the decorative layers, I used a black sponge ink pad and lightly went around the edges for a soft aged feel. In some areas, I used a distressing tool and roughed up the edges too.
After the image was colored, I trimmed down the white cardstock and fussy cut around to fit. Then I used a black liner pen and sketched two lines for a border. I did this for the sentiment chipboard as well and then wrote Happy Birthday. The rest was assembling the card together – the pink lace was just added to the top and the gingham ribbon was wrapped around the card. A bow was tied and then glued into place. I used foam dots to give dimension between the top layer and the lace doily; which means the brads for the sentiment only through the top two layers (white/black).
