Mason Atlas Jar – Strawberry Jam

I absolutely love homemade strawberry jam. I usually make the no-freezer kind because we go through it so fast. It’s a cherished childhood memory so whenever I make it, I usually share it with my family too. A bit on the chunky side is best.

The idea started with the fabric and the Mason Atlas Jar die set. When I saw it, I thought of the jam and then the rest of it came together naturally. I colored the jar red with darker shadows on the edges. Then I added the chunks and then the seeds. The highlight was added last but I wish I had planned that beforehand because adding the white after wasn’t as bright.
From the die set, I cut out the jar, lid and tag. I took the fabric and draped it around the lid and taped it down. I then placed that on the jar with foam tape and then added twine and the tag.

Polka Dot Pals Mason and Polka Dot Pals Atlas

Friends forever! These two characters were made to be friends from the start. Literally. When I drew them I had imagined this exact pose and couldn’t wait to color them up. This is Polka Dot Pals Mason and Polka Dot Pals Atlas.

Two of the Polka Dot Pals characters fit on the same card either portrait or landscape. I haven’t done a landscape card for a while so I went with that orientation.
I stamped the characters in a light color so I wouldn’t have to worry about masking. I also added the bow to Polka Dot Pals Atlas from another set. Polka Dot Pals Mason was barefoot so I decided I would color Atlas the same and ignored her shoes.
I remember I had a favorite red-head color combination from years ago but haven’t been able to recreate it. I knew there was some yellow, orange and brown but didn’t know which. So I spent some time going through my past posts and finally came across a post that actually listed the color. So in case you want it too, it is: YR31, 14, 27, E07, 08, 49

Mason Atlas Jar

How about a tall cup of chilled lemonade? This was one of those projects that pulled me away from the middle of another project just to see how the idea would work. It all started with the Mason Atlas Jar die set and some frosty ice cubes.

These jar shaker cards are easy and fun to make with the Mason Atlas Jar die set. For this project I used a paper straw and cut it in half down the shaft. When putting it in, I cut a part of the foam out of the top part to stick it in. Then I filled in the gap with smaller foam so there were no holes in the foam wall. The shaker elements are large enough that I didn’t have to worry too much.
I was inspired by Anita‘s recent card for the scalloped border and layered stitched edge. Thanks!

Baby Sea Creatures and Mason Atlas Jar Die

One great set from Whimsy Stamps to coordinate with the Mason Atlas Jar die set are the Baby Sea Creatures. So cute!! These adorable creatures work well in the larger Mason Jar rubber stamp too and it’s so much fun to play around with. I used a few other things and made this interactive card.

My objective was to create an interactive die with a pull tab and saw that the Atlas Jar would be perfect to hold that element between the layers of the lid and the jar. I think there would be a way to make this a window jar with a clear sheet but I needed to tackle one thing at a time.
I haven’t done many interactive cards so this was awkward and slow going for me. I started with the center elements then tried to plan around and behind it as I went. Yes, there were a few oopsies and I had to disassemble and try again. However, in the end it worked out and made for a fun card. Now the seahorse can bob around in the jar.

Polka Dot Pals Gemma Freebie

This is Polka Dot Pals Gemma which I have drawn with a COVID-19 theme and is now available as a FREEBIE at Whimsy Stamps. This cutie can be used to thank helpers at the grocery store who bring out your purchases to your car. Or for those who go shopping for the elderly or others who are unable to go out.

This is also a great stamp to practice coloring eyes without having to worry about the nose or mouth. For my card here, I colored in her eyes with creative color placement. You could also use the eyes on the face stamps and see how they turn out – just make sure not to ink the mouth and noses.
I wanted to keep the card simple but I ended up laying it several times then adding doodles. It was still quick to put together so that was my main goal.

Atlas Jar and Mason Atlas Jar Die

There is a new coordinating die that was released that goes along with the Atlas Jar clear stamp set and I couldn’t wait to use them both together. It’s called the Mason Atlas Jar die set and includes enough elements to use them in a variety of ways. For my project today, I created a window shaker card. And the theme? Well, it’s a long story…

We all know we’re stuck home due to the COVID-19 and that toilet paper is in high demand so I piggy backed off of that theme. Second, my youngest daughter worked on black-out poetry and I thought it would be interesting to do some too. So I grabbed my scrap dictionary and ripped out the page that defined toilet paper. I was ready to begin!
Once I had my poem complete, I drew some toilet paper to add as shaker elements. I was also lucky enough to have some grape Fimo clay slices which was perfect! The rest of the card came together very quickly and I added the unicorn and sentiment from the Polka Dot Pals Mason set.
My poem says: “Personal toilet paper scented with a magnetic variety of eastern grapes.” Sounds like the kind of toilet paper I want to use! LOL
Here’s the poem that my daughter did. It says: “Sasha blinked and lost letter were all Sasha could see. Strange hero blew in the air danced with trolls.”
