Sweet Thinkin’ Mae

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!  I’ve had nothing planned so a little down time has been nice… now time to settle down for a weekend movie.  😀  But before I get to that, here’s a project I’ve revamped using a Some Odd Girl… Sweet Thinkin’ Mae!

The door in the background is actually one of the prototypes for the Park Glen Door Diecut that I was creating so it’s kind of fun to see how that came about.  The hardware was a few things I found in my stash – it’s one of those photo clasps with a brad in the top part which creates the illusion of the door knob.

This cutie was actually kind of fun to use and at the moment I only remember the green color combination which was G82, G40 and G20.  Well, at least I think that was it – I like how it turned out and will have to use that combo again.  I think the hair is done with the Neutral which is now my favorite gray tones to use.  I used to like the Warm tones but Neutral and Toner have sneak into my favorites position.  LOL

Cheers Kaylee and Tropical Mae

Click, click, click – testing, 1, 2, 3.  It works!!  😀  I can’t tell you how I felt when I found my laptop computer in shambles with keys missing and parts spewn all over the floor!  I’m usually not one to be surprised by anything but this time I actually gasped in such an alarm that all the kids came running to see if I was ok!  LOL But the good news is after I initiated “quiet time” and spent some effort tinkering that I was able to get it all back togehter.  Phew… ok so on to todays cards… tada!

These two cuties are new from Some Odd girl and are part of the new digi releases this week!  These two cuties are Tropical Mae and Cheers Kaylee and are available in the store right now.  Tropical Mae was previewed on the SOG Blog yesterday and today it’s time to show off Cheers Kaylee – so be sure to check out the rest of what the DT has created.  😀

These two cards were fun and quick to make – sometimes those are the best.  I grabbed the paper choices before coloring then just worked off the papers to select my markers.  I usually add some ribbon but skipped out by using scraps or the reverse side of the decorative paper to create the horizontal interest that I seem to be attached to – it just looks weird if I don’t include that on my cards so I guess you coudl call that my odd quirk for the day!

I used the same colors, papers and even the layout on both projects if you haven’t noticed already.  He he he.  In addition, the background stamps I used are the Chandelier from Stampavie and I still can’t find where the sentiment stamp is from… but somewhere as I’m sure it’s not that old.  LOL

That pretty much wraps this up and I hope you’ve enjoyed the card for today.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great mid-week.  😀

Under the Sea Mae

Remember the new releases from Some Odd Girl?  I have another one to show today using the Narwhal from Under the Sea Mae!  I colored him pink and went with a bright neon pink underbelly.  Then I searched my stash for some paper colors that were opposite the color wheel and came up with this card…

I saw someone nest multiple dies the other day using various shapes and some projects using the circles and they’ve all turned out wonderful – I don’t know why I hadn’t tried it before other than there are just too many toys and so little time!  This is one I need to put into my memory banks as I enjoyed how it turned out.  Hmmm… perhaps I’ll make a challenge of it at LMMS Challenges?!  LOL

This project is actually perfect for my mood right now because it’s raining cats and dogs outside as I write this – so I can easily imagine myself looking out of the window into the deep sea and finding this friendly face!  LOL  Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.

Wishes

Ready for another challenge at Some Odd Girl?  This month is a color challenge with a nice summer combination that would be perfect for beach and water themes!  However, I wanted to make something a little different and went with Wishes, the fairy.

I’d have to admit that this color scheme had me stumped for a while and I kept veering off into purples, greens and browns.  But I finally found some yellows and blues that worked well together and stuck with it.  I think the pink is suppose to be more of a sandy orange color so I think the colors are off on my monitor a little in my craft room.  (Note to self to get that fixed.)  Either way, the blue and yellow is what stood out the most for me.

On a side note I just have to ask – why is it that my work space is soo appealing to my youngsters?!  The other day I went in and found my self-sticking pearls and gems all over the chair and today I found my next project “neatly” folded into origami next to the toy bin!  Really?  Oh, yes, really.  LOL

The main stamp I used is Wishes from Some Odd Girl with the coordinating sentiment but I also used the oval note stamp from Sweet Thinkin’ Mae.  Thanks for dropping by and make sure you don’t miss out on the fabulous projects from the design team at the SOG Blog – they’re stunning!

Sunny Mae

We have another new release to show off today from Some Odd Girl and this one is called Sunny Mae!  She come with some great accessory stamps including the clouds and “fun in the sun” sentiment I used.  😀  Be sure to visit the SOG Blog for other inspiration and here’s my card…

I used some gardening paper I found at the local scrapbook store and paired it up with craft, green and brown papers from my stash.  Then rummaged around looking for other things to match and this is what I came up with.  I haven’t used craft and black papers together before and I rather like how it turned out.  😀  Thanks for coming by and have a great day!

Under the Sea Mae

We have some new clear stamp releases this week at Some Odd Girl and I couldn’t resist joining in and bringing you Under the Sea Mae!!  This set is so fun to use and includes two mermaids, two friends and a great accessory stamps too.  😀  Here’s the card that I made… using a Mermaid Mae, Seahorse, Seashells and the Fintastic Friends sentiment…

I had to dig around in my paper stash to find some water paper and was excited to find the background decorative paper.  Then by shear luck I found the sun shining yellow which was a perfect offset.  😀  But for some reason I was in with the school paper and snatched a few just for fun.  Then the sun rays were done with B00 for more of a water effect.

After getting everything on the card, as a final touch I wrapped it up with Baker’s Twine then added some Dew Drops for bubbles.  That’s about it for this card but don’t forget to head on over to the SOG Blog to see all the other fantastic… I mean, fintastic projects!!  LOL  Have a great Monday!
