Jude Valentine

It’s been a long time since I’ve created a journal page and these three characters came together perfectly for the scene!  They’re part of the Jude Valentine release from Simply B Stamps and I thought made a great story.  Now tell me, with of the two girls do you think is the most mischievous and instigator of this Valentine crime scene?  LOL

The three images, from left to right, are Ariel Cupid, Jude’s Heart and Brittany’s Bag of Valentines from Simply B Stamps.  Then I also used a ribbon slide chippie from Make it Crafty called Fancy Ribbon Sliders. And I just found a fun way to use those sliders by cutting them in half and using them as tags sticking out from behind a layer – it looks awesome!  I used one HERE on my Frenchie Claudine project.

I have forgotten how fun it is to create pages in my journal and how much the extra space gives way for background, stories and trying new techniques.  See all those blank pages… yes, I will have to do that again.  ;D  I would like to enter this into the Simply Challenged Challenges “Anything Goes” themed challenge.

Dark Fairy Brittany

How about some Halloween?  Or at least, some dark magic to counteract the sweet Valentines theme?  At least it’s purple so the color scheme works well with the season.  He he he.  This was actually an image I was able to color over the winter break and was finally able to get it onto a card.  When I first saw this one I knew I wanted to have glowing hands plus it gave me the challenge to work with the colors reflecting which was fun too.  Check it out…

This image is Dark Fairy Brittany from Simply B Stamps which is currently still available as a digi.  I love this Jude line style which has always inspired me to really get into my the coloring and this one was no exception.  I first started by coloring the whole image, keeping in mind that there was two light sources – one from the upper corner and the other would be from her hands. The shadows are probably all over the place as I experimented with the idea.

Once the image was colored then I worked on the glow in her hands.  I started with the darker YG colors and worked my way out to the lighter colors.  The glow around the hands was done first then I added the reflection on the wings, shoes, face and clothes.  Finally as an added touch, I grabbed the white gel pen and added a few more details.

I really wanted the green to stand out as much as possible so I stayed away from those colors when putting my card together.  It’s not as bright as I had originally wanted but the over all effect and final result turned out better than I had thought.  Funny how that works!  LOL

I’d like to submit this into the following challenge:

Betty and Rudolph

Is everyone ready for Christmas yet?  I can’t believe it’s only a week away and wonder where all the time has gone.  Luckily this week feels like a vacation with the kids in school and not much happening on my side of things so I actually get to choose between activities!!  Hmm… do I go to IKEA for fun or schedule a few yearly appointments to get them out of the way?  Choices, choices!  It’s been a while since I’ve had so much fun!  He he he

This is another tag I created for the snowball kits.  This one uses Betty and Rudolph from Simply B Stamps.  I just love that little Rudolph guy – he’s so cute!!  😀

I’m entering this into the following challenge:
Simply Challenged Challenges – Red, Green, Gold, Silver

Update: I was the winner for this challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges!

Steampunk Gang Jacob

Here’s an interesting project that has been on my desk for a while and I finally finished it this week.  The image is Steampunk Gang Jacob from Simply B Stamps and I enlarged it to fill the the card and bring Jacob more into focus.  After coloring Jacob, I decided to go all out and experiment on the background using red tones and keeping it in the earth tones.  This is what I came up with …

Every single time I do a background like this I mumble to myself “it’s ruined, it’s ruined!” LOL  Seriously, it never starts out the way I like it and with all the bold colors being gradually added in splotches, I truly think this one will end up in the rubbish.  It just goes to show that some techniques never look finished until… well… until their finished!

My blending on this one isn’t as smooth as I wanted it to be so I decided to add slashes in the background to hide the fumbles.  It keeps up with the edgie feeling that the image already has and to help them blend into the background I added leaves as a final touch.  After that, it started to look ok and I decided it was time to stop while I was ahead.  He he he.

This fits right into the monthly challenge at Simply Challenged Challenges – the theme is “Fall / School Inspired” and perhaps this is Mr. Newton the new math teacher.  ;D

Teen Scene Back To School

I’ve got some news to share today, a little on the sad side unfortunately.  I’ve had a wonderful time being on the DT for Simply B Stamps and Simply Challenged Challenges but all things must come to and end.  Most of you know that I’m going back to school full time and wish I could do it all while I did it.  Anyway, this will be my last post as officially on the team but certainly not my last post so you can all breath now.  😀  After all, I bought a new spider punch yesterday just for my SBS cards!!  Hopefully I’ll be able to join in one or two of the challenges in between my school work.

For this project I used three Teen Scene images in the front and set them up waiting for the school bus to arrive.  😀  From left to right are Sporty Lola, Book Pile Miller and Teachers Pet Betty from Simply B Stamps.  Then the background image is Post Office from Just Inklined so the scene takes up the entire card.

My kids take the bus to school so this was directly inspired by them and the mingling of various kids at the corner.  It’s so fun to see all the styles and personalities as they come together for those few moments in the morning.  Don’t you wish the whole school day could be like?!

I want to give a huge thank you to Betty and Suzi for having me on the team and thank you to all my team mates for their inspiring projects each and every week!  I’m going to miss being on the team so I’ll have to be sure to join in on the challenges here and there!  😀  Thank you!

Emo Back 2 School Christian

It’s another challenge opening up at Simply Challenged Challenges and today’s theme is a “Halloween Spin!”  We want you to create a Halloween spinner card or a card that moves – there’s lots of ideas so show us what you got.  The DT is using the Back 2 School Emo collection so I’ve combined the two themes (school and Halloween) and came up with this project.

My card uses Back 2 School Emo Christian from Simply B Stamps and some papers from Cloud9Design.  I wanted to keep all the bottles at the bottom of the paper so my card came together simply.  For the moving elements, I decided to have a clock and set it to the time that school starts but it can be changed to any time of the day.

I think this will be perfect to use for a teacher card in October.  😀  Don’t forget to drop by the SCC Blog to see everyone else’s project and get you inspired for spinners!  Thanks for dropping by today and hope your week is off to a great start!
