Study Tilda

I finally did it and made my first Magnolia card! I saw this one reading a book and thought that would be perfect for me and the rest is history, as they say. I made this card using Study Tilda from Magnolia and placed her against the Carriage of Love from Make it Crafty.

I added lots of buttons, even clear ones, charm, lace, twine and a tag. I added a few school elements too like the spiral bound paper edge, paper clip and safety pin to help add to the theme.

Did you know? The instant camera is a type of camera that generates a developed film image. Edwin Land’s original idea behind instant photography was to create a photographic system that was seamless and easy for anyone to use. Later models went a long way in accomplishing his goal. The photographer simply pointed the camera at the subject and took the photo and the film developed without intervention from the photographer.

Fancy Anya

It’s another Mystery Monday day at Club Anya & Friends this week! Today we are CASE’ing a card by Kim (Paperbabe)! Her card reminded me of a Polaroid so I was inspired to color a black and white image. For this card I used Fancy Anya and finished with antique brads, sequenced black lace and laser cut embellishments covered with liquid pearls. The decorative paper I used is a couple years old!

Did you know? Man on Wire is a 2008 British documentary film directed by James Marsh. The film chronicles Philippe Petit’s 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York’s World Trade Center. The title of the movie is taken from the police report that led to the arrest of Petit, whose performance had lasted for almost one hour. The film is crafted like a heist film, presenting rare footage of the preparations for the event and still photographs of the walk, alongside reenactments and present-day interviews with the participants.

Spring Fairies

I made this card using a Fairy from Pergamano and in the background is Daffodil Dell from Make it Crafty. This is one I’ve had made for a while and finally had an empty slot today to use it. 😀 These little fairies are so cute so the card was fun to make. -Enjoy!

Did you know? The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is a conservation area and World Heritage Site within the wintering grounds of most of the monarch butterflies that migrate from east of the Rocky Mountains for up to 4,000 km south to central Mexico. It is estimated that between 60 million and 1 billion butterflies arrive in this area alone any given year. This area, which hosts the majority of wintering monarchs from the east of the United States and Canada, has only been known since the 1970s.

Prince Edward Island

Welcome to the first challenge of Make it Colourful! This week we are challenging you to use warm colors or cool colors! I made this card using three images Prince Edward Island from Mo Manning and combined it with Peaches of Plenty and Petals and Palings from Make It Crafty.

As you can tell I chose to use warm colors for my card and tried to pull it all out with a warm sunset background. I also found the perfect girl image to go with it.

Did you know? A chamber organ is a mini pipe organ, often with only one keyboard and without separate pedal pipes, that is placed in a small room. It is often confined to chamber organ repertoire, as often the organs have too little voice capabilities to rival the grand pipe organs in the performance of the classics. The sound and touch are unique to the instrument, sounding nothing like a large organ with few stops drawn out, but rather much more intimate.

Miss Anya

We have a very fun Saturday Sketch for you over at Club Anya & Friends today and is a great opportunity to make a non-rectangular card! This was my first circle card to put through the Cuttlebug folded and it was nice that the Spellbinder dies are just deep enough to cut through booth layers of cardstock! I made this card using Miss Anya from The Greeting Farm and went with a soft pastel color pallet.

I used the Magnolia Doohickey on white felt to add some soft texture. Then embellished the card with small lily flowers made from clay and a silver dragonfly necklace charm. For those starting out your Copic collection, I used only two markers per color for the clothes, hair and accessories.

Did you know? “Like a Rolling Stone” is a 1965 song by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Dylan struggled to find the essence of the song, which was recorded without success as a waltz. A breakthrough was made when it was tried in a rock music format, and rookie session musician Al Kooper improvised the organ riff for which the track is known. However, Columbia Records was unhappy with both the song’s length at over six minutes and its heavy electric sound, and was hesitant to release it. It was only when, a month later, a copy was leaked to a new popular music club and heard by influential DJs that the song was put out as a single. Although radio stations were reluctant to play such a long track, “Like a Rolling Stone” reached number two in the US charts and became a worldwide hit. The track has been described as revolutionary in its combination of different musical elements, the youthful, cynical sound of Dylan’s voice, and the directness of the question in the chorus: “How does it feel?”.

Bikkie with Cookie

The challenge this week at The Stamping Bazaar Blog is to make a card or project using Lace & Ribbons! I chose to feature The Stamping Bazaar‘s Bikkie with Cookie, illustrated by Marina Neira, and used a soft color pallet. It’s indented to be used as a baby card so I colored Bikkie yellow for a neutral gender.

The lace is easily spotted and for the ribbon I used a thin white organdy ribbon behind the flowers and curled the ends. I also added two star-shaped hat pins and in the opposite corner two silver spacers, each with an added Dew Drop.

Did you know? The North Stoke Church, in the English county of West Sussex, has architectural features and internal fittings spanning hundreds of years, including some very old stained glass and wall paintings. In late 2007, two amateur archaeologists at the University of Sussex unexpectedly came across an ancient document giving the dedication of the church, which had been unknown since the English Reformation or before. They found a piece of vellum stuck to the back of one which was a letter written by the Bishop of Chichester Stephen Bersted to King Edward I in 1275, indicating that the church was dedicated to Mary the Virgin. Accordingly, a rededication ceremony was held at the now redundant church on 8 December 2007, at which it was officially renamed from North Stoke Church to St Mary the Virgin Church.
