Catch of the Day

The challenge this week at The Stamping Bazaar Blog is to make a card or project using punches! For this card I used my corner rounder punch and and clipped two opposite corners. The stamp I used was Catch of the Day from The Stamping Bazaar designed by Marina Neira. I love this color combination – the greens, browns and creams are soothing – and a chose larger hardware embellishments for a more masculine card.

Did you know? Tapioca is a starch extracted from the Cassava root. It is a staple food in some regions and is used worldwide as a thickening agent, mainly in foods. Tapioca is gluten free, and almost completely protein free. The cassava plant has either red or green branches with blue spindles on them. The toxin found in the root of the red-branched variant is less harmful to humans than the green-branched variety. Therefore, while the root of the red/purple-branched variant can be consumed directly, the root of the green-branched variant requires treatment to remove the toxin. Commercially, the starch is processed into several forms: powder, fine or coarse flakes or meal, rectangular sticks, and the most common spherical “pearls”.

Valentines Bear

I made this card using Valentines Bear which is a free digi that my Mom is giving away for a limited time! We reached our goals from the Blog Candy so quickly that I drew up some images to share with everyone. To promote using those images, we’re now hosting a challenge and this is my card! Did you know? A countdown is a sequence of counting backward to indicate the seconds, days, or other time units remaining before an event occurs or a deadline expires. In the context of a rocket launch, the “T minus Time” is the time before launch, e.g. “T minus 3 minutes and 40 seconds”. Monster Love

I made this card using my new digi Monster Love for my very first hosted challenge! The challenge is to create a card or project using one of the free digis that my Mom and I are giving away for a limited time. I colored this guy up for Valentine’s Day and also used my new Magnolia tag die! I also stitched around the card which is a sure sign that I was crafting at my Mom’s house. ;D

Did you know? The Burr Arch Truss is a combination of an arch and a multiple kingpost truss architecture design. It was invented in 1804 by Theodore Burr and used in bridges, usually covered bridges. The design principle behind the Burr arch truss is that the arch should be capable of bearing the entire load on the bridge while the truss keeps the bridge rigid. The combination of the arch and the truss provides a more stable bridge capable of supporting greater weight than either the arch or truss alone.

Miss Anya Love

Today is What’s Up Wednesday at Club Anya and Friends and I have a wonderful tutorial over there to look at! I altered Miss Anya Love for this card, giving her a longer dress to look more like a princess. In the background I colored up another Carriage of Love from Make it Crafty.


Here’s a look at Miss Anya’s new long dress which I image is made out of soft velvet with gold satin trim. I used the same colors on her as I did with the carriage so they would match. I also added glitter to her headband, areas of her dress and her shoes, of course.


The laser cut hearts are covered with light yellow and lavender liquid pearls and then added one to each corner. I “sprinkled” on a few self-stick gems and finished one corner with a bow and charm. I used a large Nestabilities die for the background used foam dots to attach it to the base of the card so the whole front stands outward. Anya is also on foam dots which adds another layer and dimension to the card.

Did you know? St. John’s Cathedral is an Anglican church perched on a hilltop in St. John’s, Antigua. The present cathedral was built on a fossilized reef, in 1845, and is now in its third incarnation, as earthquakes in 1683 and in 1745 destroyed the previous structures. When St. John’s Cathedral was first built, it was criticized by ecclesiastical architects for being like “a pagan temple with two dumpy pepper pot towers”, while now it is extolled as the best cathedral in the West Indian province.
