May Kiddos Challenge

It’s time for another kiddos challenge at Make it Colourful and you just have to check out what the Junior Colour Addicts did this month! The theme is dots and is sponsored by Little Miss Muffet Stamps – that’s me and I’ve even provided a freebie for all the kids to use!

Here’s what Cassandra has made for you this week:

She paired up The Ivy Swing from Make it Crafty and Butterfly Kisses from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. Coloring was done with Prismacolor Pencils and the dot theme was incorportated in with her background using varoius circle punches.

Here’s what Lydia has made for you this week:

She made a card for her pen pal and was inspired by last month’s circus theme. She used three images from Imaginisce Snag ’em Stamps: Animal Crackers Elephant, Monkey and Koala. They were colored using Primsacolor Pencils and she created her own “dot” embellishment too!

Aren’t those darling? Be sure to head on over to Make it Colourful challenge blog for details on your free image and let your junior enthusiasts come play with us! Creations using a Little Miss Muffet Stamp are also eligable to enter in the Little Miss Muffet Challenges too!

Ginger

Check out this newest addition to the Little Miss Muffet Stamps… meet Ginger from the Sugar ‘n Spice Dolls! She’s read to help anyone feel better and bring a smiles to any patient she helps. ;D Come see what the Design Team has made for you and other new releases over at Little Miss Muffet Challenges blog!!

I had so much fun coloring her shirt and took inspiration directly from all the pediatric visits we make through out the year. The nurses area and doctors are always dressed so cheerfully that I wanted to make the shirt bright and colorful.

This is always a good layout for those scraps of paper that seam to pile up and I used a large chipboard embellishment at the top to pull it all together. I finished the card with faux stitching around the edges and a pearls in the corner.

I’d like to enter into the following challenges:
The Corrosive Challenge #114 (turquoise and pink)
Sentimental Sundays Challenge #53 (for a women)
Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central (anything goes)
Craft Your Passion Challenge #56 (anything goes)

Did you know? Henna is a flowering plant used since antiquity to dye skin, hair, fingernails, leather and wool. The name is also used for dye preparations derived from the plant, and for the art of temporary tattooing based on those dyes. Additionally, the name is misused for other skin and hair dyes, such as black henna or neutral henna, which do not derive from the plant.

Anise Football

Here’s my second card today for the new releases at Little Miss Muffet Stamps! This is Anise playing football and I even colored in the black marks on the face to cut down on the sun glare.

Anise comes with all the numbers from zero to nine so this time I added #36 to her jersey. Our local team has the colors blue and white so I used those colors and placed her on a bright and cheery card.

I’d like to enter into the following challenges:

Did you know? American Football has many different rule sets. In the United States, high school football, college football and professional football are played under slightly different rules. High school football is governed by the National Federation of State High School Associations, college football by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, while the major professional league is the NFL.The sport is also played in Europe, Japan and Mexico. The International Federation of American Football acts as an international governing body for the sport. American football is closely related to Canadian football but with some differences in rules and the field.

Anise Volleyball

Check out the newest release from Little Miss Muffet Stamps! This is Anise playing Volleyball and she loves being active outdoors – I’ve drawn her with a basketball, volleyball, football and soccer.

I made this card using strong yellow and black colors possibly representing a High School team. Anise comes with the numbers zero through nine so you can add them to her shirt if you want. This version shows her with no numbers.

Did you know? William Garrow (1760–1840) was a British barrister, politician and judge known for his indirect reform of the advocacy system, which helped usher in the adversarial court system used in most common law nations today. He introduced the phrase “innocent until proven guilty”, insisting that defendants’ accusers and their evidence be thoroughly tested in court.

Up Up and Away

There’s a new store opening up called Love to Stamp and today I’m previewing “Up Up and Away” which will be available on May 16th! Check out the Love to Stamp Blog for more sneak peeks! Love to Stamp is also sponsoring Stamp Something challenges this week.

I’m one of the lucky duckies that will be showing you some previews and joining the Little Darlings Design Team! There are some cute girl images and I can’t wait to show you more. My card uses some postcard paper I found at the local craft store and I thought it would be perfect with the baker’s twine.

The metal tag was created with a Cuttlebug tag die and then impressed with a metal stamp. I found the sheets of metal in a craft store near the woodworking and handcrafts section. It’s really thin so it can be molded easily – I ‘ve even used it successfully in an embossing folder!

I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:
Crafts 4 Eternity Challenges (anything goes)
Fussy and Fancy Challenges (springtime)
Paper Cutz Challenge #89 (anything goes)
Simply Create Challenge #42 (metal)

Sweet Pea

You know that yesterday Zoe and I shared our attempts at coloring dew drops using only Copic markers. Well, it was actually my third attempt so today I wanted to show the first two. ;D Here’s a card I made using some sweet flower fairies.

I added blue to these raindrops to see if it would help make them stand out more. On some it worked ok but on the majority I think I have too much blue, especially on the pink ones.

The first thing I did was draw in all the water drops in the image using a pencil. Make sure to go about this lightly because you’ll need to erase each drop just before coloring. Some pencil marks can be erased after coloring but in general one it’s colored with a Copic marker it doesn’t come off.

I enjoyed working with the darker colors and I think that will be a key to success. On this image below, I went back in and used the white gel pen for some much needed highlights.

I would like to work on the shading a little more and add a refraction on the opposite side of the drop. However, in the mean time, here are the basic steps I took to making these drops. Remember to keep your light source in the same direction for all droplets – something I let my mind wonder on in the below sample.

Here is a close up of the various water drops. “A” was my first attempt and I like the color and color depth. “B” and “C” are from this card where I tried to add blue to the mix. (“A” and “B” both use the white gel pen.) “D” and “E” are from yesterday where I did not use the gel pen and had to leave the white areas completely uncolored.
