I have a fun project today using one of the gorgeous Nouveau Girls from Some Odd Girl!  This one is Renew and she was released last month in a clear stamp.  I love using real stamps because I can be posh about the paper I use – unfortunately, my printer is too picky about the paper it will accept when printing digi stamps so it’s always blissful to enjoy a good blending card stock.  😀  Anyway, back to my project… today is my day to post a project on the SOG Blog and whit is what I made.

The project I made today is a gift for a teacher which I call an A+ Grading Block and can be very helpful when grading papers!  All the teacher has to do is spin the dial on the top to figure out which grade to give to the students.  LOL  I thought it would be a fun desk decoration and even the students would love to come up and give it a spin, I’m sure.

I had made a similar one before using Grow (click HERE) but I needed at least one more so my girls would stop fighting over which one got to give it to their teacher.  😀  Luckily it was Teacher Appreciation week last week so they each got a block with some goodies.  I started off with a 3″x3″ wooden cube and covered each side with decorative paper.  Then I used an inkpad to age the edges with a dark brown.

The image on the top is Take a Spin from Stampin’ Up and I added a spinner I found in my stash.  This time I mounted the spinning wheel on a petite scalloped circle and added a banner tag on the top with a charm.  The spinning wheel is popped up to leave room for the twine and still give it a flat plane to spin freely.

On one of the sides I stamped a label with the Chandelier from Stampavie then wrapped the label around the corner to spill over on the other side. This side uses a busy decorative paper and I wanted rulers to show so I tried not to cover them up too much and added some ribbon roses and a few sparkling gems.

The side that the label spins over on I added more details and also used the daisy accessory stamps that come with Renew from Some Odd Girl.  Then I used a couple more diecuts including the grass and dress form which I covered with burlap linen fabric.  This side was basically finished except I had two ribbon roses left over and couldn’t let them go to waste.  The grass diecut was just the right size to wrap around the other side of the block so I thought why not?!

The final side uses a Protractor stamp from Jenni Bowlin which I also thought was perfect to tie in with the teacher theme.  I don’t remember where the banner diecut came from but I used dimensions to apply them to the block then added two Baker’s Twine bows on the end.  Then to fill in some gaps I used more of the daisy stamps from Renew, some gems plus a tiara sticker.

I think that sums up everything I used for the project.  It was actually really simple to make and a lot like making five different tags.  They were a big hit with the teachers so I’m glad that they enjoyed them.  Now I have two more cubes left and will have to come up with something new… any ideas?

Lavender as Alice

It’s a new challenge day at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and we have an awesome theme for everyone… ANYTHING GOES!!  We all love those plus there are fabulous prizes – THREE RUBBER STAMPS!!  This isn’t something that happens every time there is a challenge so I feel like bringing special attention to it.  He he he… hence the all caps.  LOL  But seriously, head on over to the LMM Challenge Blog and check out the details – for this challenge you just have to be a Follower and add the NEWS Badge to your sidebar!  Easy peasy!  😀

For my project I used the new Lavender as Alice and went with a gold and blue color scheme.  This isn’t just any o’l Alice as she’s a special Sugar ‘n Spice Doll Alice!  😀  She’s great in all colors too and a perfect image for girl birthday cards. 

I love how her colors turned out and it was pure luck as I didn’t have my color chart out for a reference – so as a result I just started picking out marker I tought would work together and blending out colors that didn’t.  I’ll have to try that more often.  What about you… are you a color-by-the-chart kind of person or do you prefer to get results through the luck of the draw?

Mice are Nice

Here’s another card using a pre-colored Mice are Nice image from Lili of the Valley.  These cute mice are helping with the gift wrapping – something I wouldn’t mind help with.  😀  Maybe they’re like the little shoe elves and can help me around Christmas time.  LOL  This is fourth card I made with the diecut sheet so I have two more to share through out the month.

I enjoyed using the burlap ribbon because it reminded me of a burlap sack that mice love to nibble on.  But that’s probably not the image you wanted to think of while looking at my card.  These are supose to be nice mice – remember?!

I’m using all six of these cards as a gift set and they look great together.  Thanks for coming by today and I hope you’ve been inspired. 

Dancin’ Mae

Welcome back!  It’s felt like ages even though it really hasn’t so I guess that’s a sure sign of a good weekend.  LOL  I just wanted to quickly get on and post a card I made using Dancin’ Mae from Some Odd Girl.  Sometimes a simple card is just the ticket … especially for those images that really sing and dance.  😀

This card uses a one layer white card base and I used stickers from a 12×12 paper pack for some color.  I also cut out an oval backing to center the image then sketched in some lines around the card base.  With the card easily finished, I was able to focus on the fun part… the coloring!!

Mice are Nice

Happy Mother’s Day!  Flowers seems to be the most iconic symbol for this occasions so I thought it would be perfect to post this card using a precolored image from Lily of the Valley.  This is still part of the Mice are Nice sheet and one of my favorites too.  These little mice are adorable and have been so very helpful.  LOL  Check out my card…

The weather lately has been perfect so I couldn’t resist getting a few tulips for my garden.  However, what I’m most excited about is finding out that Stargazef Lily flowers grow is our area!  It’s my favorite.  😀  They will be perfect outside with their strong fragrance and hopefully I’ll get those planted this week.  Ahh… now just where to plant them?!

For my project today I combined three images to create this scene…. Beach Time Betty Munster and Skull Castle Jude (the new releases) from Simply B Stamps and Island Hideaway from Make it Crafty.  For the “photos” on the side I originally had the icecream but I think that was too washed out so I went back in and added the “Sweet Sunshine” one instead.  However, you can see the icecream ones below.  ;D

This has been a fun release and I’ve enjoyed combining the images to create little scenes.  😀  It’s so hard to pick a favorite but I think Beach Time Betty Munster was the funnest to color with so many possibilities to add color!  Do you have a favorite image?  I’m afraid I’m usually one to answer “I love them all!”  He he he
