Reading Mae

I can’t turn down a good reading image and this one is no exception – this is the new Reading Mae from Some Odd Girl and you have to check out everyone’s projects at the SOG Blog!!  She’s a cutie and fun to color and I can never have too many bookworm cards for teachers. I think this one is by far the most favorite of the release – but check out all the images and decided for yourself.  😀

In addition to using Reading Mae, I was able to sneak in another ticket sentiment from Whimsy Stamps – I have a whole bunch punched out from the coordinating diecut and so it’s easy to grab one and add to a project.  Lately I’ve been stocking up on diecut shapes in craft paper and they’ve been great embellishments.  Plus it saves from getting out the diecutter and putting it away on projects that I need to finish quickly.

Growing up, there was a saying on the wall of my home which said “Use it up, wear it out,  make it do or do without.”  Come to find out my Mom loathed the saying but it still sticks with me today… so when I reached for my orange flowers that I’ve been “saving for that right project” I decided it was time to use them up.  LOL  I guess I can apply that to all my stashes.  He he he

Thanks for coming by and I hope you’ve enjoyed my project for today – I hope it has inspired you to make something, color something or even read something!  😀

Butterflies

I hope you’ve been able to enjoy all the fun projects I’ve posted while I was away… bet you didn’t even notice.  😀  What, I said I was gone?  Ah, well, I guess you did know.  LOL   Anyway, for today I have a fun girlish project using Butterflies from Little Miss Muffet Stamps – she’s one of the new images from Pollycraft which is only available at LMMS and great for almost any occasion!  😀

I’m so excited that Paula will be drawing images for Little Miss Muffet Stamps as they are adore to color!  This one I went all out with a pink theme which is one of my favorite colors.  The other is chocolate – both my favorite color and food!  😀

Be sure to visit the LMM Blog for more inspiration from the design team and there is also information on there from Thursday about the new Rubber stamps that were released last week!  Plus there are six of the digi stamps that are retiring so get them while you can if you’re a digi lover!

Thanks for coming by today and for all the comments I’m sure were left over the weekend.  I’m going to be busy catching up on everything but sometimes that’s the fun part of coming home.  Enjoy!

Sweet Devilina

It’s my day to feature a project on the Make it Crafty Blog and today I’m showing a little on how I add Sharp Shadows to my images.  This is something I just started doing myself however it’s simple to do once you can be brave enough to try it out.  For this project I’ve used Sweet Devilina from Make it Crafty and colored her completely just as I would have normally colored.

Now it’s time to get the darker colors out and add some shadows.  Scared you say?  Well, yes, I was at first but adding one or two shadows here or there has helped me over come that and now I don’t mind going all crazy with them.  Sometimes a little too much too!  LOL

For my shadows this time I used the Copic T3 for all the shadows but it’s ok to experiment and use different shades or colors as the technique would be the same.  Anyway, I started adding shadows for areas that I know for sure like under the bracelets, skirt and behind her boot.

Then I went for more obscured shadows or the difficult ones like from her hair, on her ear, on the wings and on her face.  Sometimes it’s hard to add the shadow because it’s changes that area – for example, her arm behind the wing would probably be mostly in shadow from her wings.  However, I didn’t want to have a gray arm sticking out behind her so for these areas I shorted the shadow depth a little and hoped the eye would “forgive” the difference.

That’s about all for today and I hope you can be brave enough to try it out on your next project!  😀

Tobie and his Puppy

It’s a special day over at Some Odd Girl today as they celebrate all day for their FaceBook Fun day!!  There are challenges, tips, games and all sorts of fun activities to join in with so head on over and see what they’re up to.  😀  But before you leave here is a little SOG inspiration using Tobie and his Puppy

Oh I’ve been needing boy cards!!  That seems to be the same story for most of us.  LOL  I ran out last month so I need to restock on my supplies again and this images fits perfectly in that category.  And lucky me, I had some boyish paper to work with too and went for anything non-swirlish and non-pinkish.  He he he

For this project I had the paper selected first then went and colored my image so I could match the colors better.  The only thing I didn’t know what what ribbon I was going to use so if I was to go back I would change Tobie’s hair color to be a little darker.  However, it still works so I chose to leave it.  😀  Besides, the receiver of this card probably won’t even notice.  LOL

Miss Rio Little Shop of Horrors

We have another challenge over at Simply Challenged Challenges today and it’s an easy one and one of my favorites… “Anything Goes!”  That’s right, just use a Simply B Stamp and create anything you want.  😀  Be sure to visit the SCC Blog for more inspiration and to enter your project.  For my project, I made a little bookmark using Miss Rio Little Shop of Horrors.

I was originally going to use Halloween paper for this but I had a couple or scraps on my desk left over from My Mind’s Eye Mabel paper pad and thought the orange was a perfect color!  So instead of going all out for Halloween, I was just going for a hint and included the turquoise paper in there anyway.  Then I threw in some of the brown which was part of the original color scheme of the Mabel paper and to help it blend I brushed the edges of the decorative paper with brown ink.

Do you see the princess crown behind her?  I just thought it would be fun to included it – not sure if it really matches but overall it add a whimsical feel that I like.  LOL  Anyway, that’s my bookmark and hope you enjoyed it.  I’m heading out for the weekend but I’ve prescheduled some posts to pop up while I’m away.  😀

Bailey

I have some exciting news to share today over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps…. I have released six of the most popular digi images into rubbah!!  So today we’re previewing images from both digi and rubber forms and celebrating this release with a fabulous special too!  I’ll be out of town this weekend so any order placed between now and Monday get a free digi image from the Sugar & Spice Dolls line!  Plus there were some combo packs put up this week so be sure to check out the LMM Blog for the details and the What’s New section of the store!

For my project I used the *new* Bailey in rubber from Little Miss Muffet Stamps plus the two bunnies from Spring Whisper to create a little scene.  The sentiment is a sneak peak of what is to come next month so keep your eye out for that.  😀  Anyway, I empasized new for the Bailey image because I’ve flipped her left and added finger details instead of the mitten hand shapes that she has as a digi.  Tricky!  LOL

The layout for this card is one I found on Amy’s Blog (Picked Paper Designs) and loved how she incorporated all te different layers and embellishments so I had to give it a try.  I changed a few things based on my stash and this is how it turned out.  The papers I used are My Mind’s Eye Mabel paper pad and it looks like I have one or two more cards I can make with it so you’ll be seeing this color combo soon.  😀

Thanks for coming by and make sure you visit the LMM Blog for all the release details and specials plus all the fabulous projects from the design team – they’ve done a spectaculor job with both digi and rubber images.  I just love what they make.  😀
