I stamped the character in black but before I did that, I wiped away the face with a cotton swab. This allowed me to use an Add-on Face from one of the Polka Dot Pals sets and I chose the one from Polka Dot Pals Mason. When I stamped that face, I also wiped away the mouth so I could color my own in.
This little girl has bubble powers so she’s have a bright cheery day in the backyard. Wouldn’t that be fun to be able to produce bubbles from your hands? The sentiment is a light chipboard and easy to color with the Copic markers so I colored it similar to the bubbles and tied it in with the theme that way. To help it stand out, I did the second layer with black.
The hat is actually part of the doll’s hair. That was a lot of hair so I decide she’d be perfect with a little beanie hat. Because I wanted to go with something bright, and I recently learned about Nooglers at Google, I went with a propeller beanie. Other creative color placement includes the mouth, extra hair, bubbles, pool and pool toys.
This is what the character looked like before the transformation using creative color placement.
It’s a release day at Whimsy Stamps and you’ll want to head on over there to grab your newest Polka Dot Pals clear set! This is Polka Dot Pals Vera and I can’t wait to see how everyone colors her up or color up the houses in the background too. For my card, I stuck within the set and created this scene…
Old fans may recognize this character from Little Miss Muffet Stamps – she was one of my favorites so I fixed a few things and also added a face to this set. Now she’s even better and I know will be one that I use over and over again.
I first colored the background and took inspiration from the first card I made last autumn when the Polka Dot Pals were newly released at Whimsy Stamps. That particular card has been hanging on my wall and … displayed proudly kinda like the first dollar earned at a small shop. LOL And it’s a quick but detailed background to do as well
For this project, I’ve mashed up a Polka Dot Pal with a DoveArt stamp and created this scene. These combination is always fun to work on and they make great scenes. This one features The Mailbox in the background and Polka Dot Pals Mason as the character. I’d swoon too if someone put a friendly note in my mailbox with flowers. Sigh
The red and yellow flowers are colored like Indian Blankets which are pentifiul this season around Texas. I think the yellow tips are stunning and pulls this flower over from the weed category into the desirable category. I’m so glad there are fields and fields of these to enjoy.
The character is Polka Dot Pals Mason and I’ve added elements from the Polka Dot Pals Fern set – her glasses and the sentiment. On the glasses, and the center of the flowers, I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops to give it a little more texture and shine. It’s a subtle effect but looks great when see in real life.
The background was stamped in green and brown ink. To do this, I inked up the entire stamp in green then dabbed the brown in sections such as the mailbox and the house. I didn’t worry about getting some on the green trees/grassy area and thought that would add extra dimension when I colored it. The character was stamped in black.
These literary mice are at it again, typing poems for those they care about. Last week I had bookmarks to share and from that I expanded and also created a card using the same theme. However, with the card being larger, I was able to include more of the accessory stamps.
I used the same colors and supplies as the bookmarks so I only had to grab a few extra things to complete this. The poem itself, is very long. In addition to not rhyming, I thought that would be humorous when pulling it out, and out and out even more.
I didn’t want to add so many new colors so when I did the background, I kept with the brown from the mice and the gray/white from the paper.
I didn’t show the whole poem, but there are three more segments. The pull tab goes all the way down to the bottom of the card when it’s inserted all the way. To do this allusion, I assembled it with two layers of foam in between and then cut the slit all the way down to the 2nd to last layer (but not the base)
Sometimes not knowing what to color next, I look to my desk for inspiration. Or rather, I’m too lazy to look elsewhere and grab the closest thing… in this case, it was my second printing of the digital scene Polka Dot Pals Jayden Farm Break. I thought, sure why not! And this time I was going to do it different.
Update: This event is over but you still have time to enter the challenges with your creativity and coloring. Good luck! If you haven’t already heard, Whimsy Stamps is having their Virtual Weekend Retreat and this is one of the talk about images – there is a video, inspiration by others, and more. So come on over and play along in the games, challenges, chit-chat and prizes.
Whenever I think of farms, I gravitate towards animals and food crops – so I often forget about all the gorgeous and colorful flower farms out there. So this farm is dedicated to tulips and lavender. I can only imagine what it would be like to visit here. Blissful and aromatic for sure.
I really enjoyed how the mouth turned out on this gal. They don’t always turn out to be my favorites so it’s a happy result when it does. I also like the vine that I added to the silo. I do wish, however, I made the back row of trees into clouds instead. But that’ll just be something I can do next time.
While traveling, I enjoying spotting the barn quilt squares so I decided to add one to this barn. I went with a flying geese pattern. The fields I tried to color are orange tulips and lush lavender. I added dimension to these crops with Liquid Pearls.
This is the image I’ve colored during the Whimsy Stamp’s Virtual Weekend Event – if you haven’t popped on over to join the festivities then now is the time. I showed how I colored this card from start to almost finish in a speed coloring that was 28 minutes long. Yes that seems long and being on the editing side then I defiantly agree with you. However, this was a special event and there are videos, tutorials, games, freebies, prizes and more so we have all been putting extra effort into have a great weekend.
The image is Polka Dot Pals Jayden Farm Break. Update: The event is over but you still have time to add your creative projects and coloring into the challenges this week. Good luck!
I had created this scene a few weeks ago on another image and thought it was cute enough that I paired her with a Polka Dot Pal to create this digital coloring scene.
Today I’ll be coloring this image again and will choose a different color scheme. Instead of hay, perhaps I’ll choose corn or sunflowers. Instead of a sunset, maybe I’ll go for a light blue sky. It’ll be fun to see how different it turns out.
