Blossom Tree and Candy Floss

Blossom Tree and Candy Floss?! What a combination but they work together when putting these two projects together.  I have used Blossom Tree from Make ti Crafty along with Candy Floss from Mo Manning (plus a few buttons of my own) to re-create these pencils.  I had a few logo pencils to use, you know, the unsightly ones with the business logo or moto on them?  Very boring and they needed some pizzas!

I printed my images out on regular printer paper and sized it to what I thought pencil would be, giving a little extra fudging room.  Then I colored it using Prismacolor pencils and cut it down to size so I could roll the new paper on the pencil.  On one side, I left a little extra white paper and that’s the part I glued down first on the pencil.  Then when that was dry, I added a little more glue to the paper and rolled the rest of it on the pencil using the table to make sure it was a tight roll.  Be careful with the glue too – you’ll want enough to glue all the paper to the pencil but not too much to make it messy.

Lastly, take care in sharpening them.  I found that if the paper is loose then it really tears it up at the bottom.  But if the paper is tightly attached to the pencil then an electric pencil sharpener worked well.

Happy Birthday Faye!

This is a project I’ve drawn and created for a special friend on her very special day – it’s Faye’s birthday today and I hope she’s celebrating in style!  I even dragged out my colored pencils and tried to do something different.  😀  So if you know Faye, or just like wishing someone Happy Birthday, then head on over to her blog and wish her a very Happy Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAYE!!

The Little Misses have also gotten together and posted a bunch of inspiration using this image on the Little Miss Muffet Blog.  I didn’t have my project finished when the post when live, so you got a preview over there and the full project here.  The image is Polka Dot Pals Faye and was inspired by Faye herself… especially the glitter portion.  She actually “glitter bombed” me in the mail and I literally got glitter everywhere – yikes!  So take her seriously when she says she’s going to put glitter on your desk… no matter where you live!  LOL

Among other things, Faye is an awesome gal and I’m so grateful to have her as a friend.  Thank you for all that you do too and I hope you’re having a magical day!  *Hugs

Sunbonnet Strawberry Sitting

While I’ve been working with kraft paper, I thought I would pull out the pencils again and this time I’ve colored Sunbonnet Strawberry Sitting available in rubber at Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  I went all out with the colors and really wanted something to pop.  So in stead of leaving part of the kraft paper as a color, I used a lot of bright colors and filled it all in.  This was so fun to work with red in a non-holiday sense and I love how the strawberry and her dress turned out!  😀  I hope you like it too!

Healing the Dragon

Is a dragon an animal?!  I hope so.  This card has been sitting in draft mode and I just can’t wait any longer.  LOL  The challenge at The Paper Shelter is “Animal Magic” and I’m going to submit this entry.  The image(s) on this project is called Healing the Dragon by The Paper Shelter which is actually four individual stamps merged together. But I liked how they all came together in this scene and colored it as is.

With an image like this, there are always areas I wish I had colored a little differently.  This one for example, is the liquid medicine.  Instead of coloring something that looks like blood, I wish it was purple like the spoon, and the spoon, any other color.  However, maybe dragons drink blood to feel better?  Who knows!

I hope you’re all have a great weekend!

Polka Dot Pals Leilani

We have an inspiration blog post at Little Miss Muffet Stamps today and I wanted to display the card I used the for the Cheeks & Nose Tutorial.   I still have the other sheet that I used and was thinking about an eye tutorial… but… maybe another day when I have some more time.  It’s still on my desk, however, so maybe. In the mean time, here’s a warm seasoned Christmas card…

I used Polka Dot Pals Leilani and Palm Christmas Tree, both from Little Miss Muffet Stamp.  The colors were grabbed from a spring paper pad that I have plus a bit of green scraps to help bring in the Christmas colors.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a great week!

Felicity

I decided to take my coloring with me and grabbed my pencils since they’re in a nice to-go box that’s easy to travel with.  But before stepping out the door, I stamped Felicity, from Make it Crafty, in black on an over-sized kraft card.  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with all the empty spot, but I didn’t care at the moment… I was fixin’ to color and *that* was exciting!  LOL   My main goal for coloring Felicity was to use the kraft cardstock as part of the skin color.  So I kept the coloring of skin to a minimal with just a little cream and a tiny bit of dark brown for a shadow.  Here’s what she looked liked finished…

For the card, I decided a little bit of doodling would be fun and inspired by the Zentangle® method of pattern drawing.  However, I kept it in the corner to balance out the character.  Then for fun, I found a little bird cage charm and added that to the tangles.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great day!
