The challenge at Totally Tilda this week is to add wings and I decided to go for a black and white simple card. The wings I added were from a metal die in the background and also a butterfly gem next to the flower. I’m not sure if adding wings to the card was the challenge or if I needed to add wings to Tilda herself. Anyway, I’ve entered it in the challenge as one to share.

Giant Flower with Razi Petal Sprite
The Make it Colourful challenge this month is to (1) Easy: Color with non-traditional skin tones or (2) Hard: try Creative Color Placement by changing the look of an image through the coloring medium only. This was right up my ally so I joined in with the hard challenge, of course. The coloring medium I used are graphite pencils: 2H, F, 2B, 4B and 6B.
Sometimes the hardest part is selecting an image to color and for this project, I used from Giant Flower and Razi Petal Sprite from Make it Crafty. I merged these two digital images together then started to plan out what I wanted to change. Most of the time I color faces on faceless characters so my goal was use a non-character image. I knew with the Giant Flower I could pull something off in the center, however, I still wanted a character and that’s how Razi came into the picture.
I’ll show you the original picture below (images from the MiC store) but for now… see if you can identify what I’ve changed. There are some obvious ones but I’m sure there will be a few that you miss. And if you DO miss some, then I like to count that as a success in being able to incorporate the differences in with the image.
The butterfly also has some chipboard corner embellishments from Make it Crafty too – did you see those? You can check out the store and look at the images and here they are merged in the same scene. Thanks for dropping by!
Boot House
I’d like to think that maybe, just maybe, I might have inspired Zoe a tiny-wincy to create the impromptu Boot House challenge in the Facebook group; but I doubt that was the case. In any regards, this is one of the images I colored when Zoe was here visiting. Coloring the Boot House wasn’t enough so she also challenged me to color a marble sky. This was done with Prismacolor Pencils on white paper.
I think it worked for the first try but I certainly have some ideas on how to improve it for the next try. Marble was a tough one and even though I think the effect I got is cool, I’m not sure if it looks like real marble. It was a fun challenge… and now I have a challenge for you too… you need to get Zoe to post her marble image too! He he he
Happy Bee Day
This is a card I created using Happy Bee Day clear stamp from Tiddly Inks and the hexagon punch from Stampin’ Up. The image was one I actually colored at the coloring retreat with Christy, Zoe and a bunch of new friends. I stamped it a lighter color ink instead of black and was able to play around with Creative Color Placement. Basically I colored a nose and some eyes on the face, plus added sleeves and created a shirt under the costume. This was a card I had made together with my Mom and we had fun with the new punch. Thanks Christy! And thanks Mom!
Poinsettia Fairy
As you know the two challenges for this month are (1) coloring with teal and purple and/or (2) coloring on something non-white cardstock. I went with both and colored the Poinsettia Fairy on a thin sheet of Balsa Wood. I also used the Wooden Stool from the Spring release, also by Make it Crafty. The colors of course, are purple and teal. This fairy was stamped in black ink then colored with Prisimacolor pencils.
The pencils were tricky to get used to because the first few layers had to be very light. However, once the foundation was set, applying pressure with the lighter colors made these pencils blend as smooth as butter. The background was then colored with Copic colors but I didn’t like how dark it was so I went back with some lighter pencils to help lighten it up.
SS Perfect Christmas
I don’t have anything else to post but I do have pictures of a project I made back in December that I could share! This card uses Swings ‘n Slides Perfect Christmas from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and used items from my scrap pile to create it. In hindsight, it would have been adorable to add white crisscross pattern to his shirt to match the paper! I’ll just have to do that before I send it out in the mail. ;D Some great ideas happen in version two of a project. Oh well. Have a great weekend!
