Understanding finally arrived

This is day four of my boho journey and I think I’m finally getting the hang of it. Further searching for what boho really is, I found someone that simply defined it as aspects that “embrace the natural and are handmade.” Basically I needed to have elements of nature such as flowers, feathers, water, leaves, branches, rocks, or whatever from nature. It could also be animals, trees, waterfalls, and whatnot. The other half was to make it by hand – check! That one was easy. So my goal for this card was to merge more of the boho style that I’ve learned together with my own style. I wanted it to have nature, randomness and bold shapes/color. I think I nailed it and I really like how this card turned out.

What is Boho?

Well if you ask me, I have no idea how to define Boho let alone design cards in that style so this was a real stretch for me. Searching for “boho art” online, I would guess it meant large bold shapes, muted colors that are close on the color wheel, some line sketches and a bit abstract. So that’s what I went for and came up with this design. The hardest part was I really want to use my new Flower Tiles stamps so that was kind of a monkey wrench. This will be a journey for me so day one was about what I saw. How do you think I did?

Is this Lake Michigan?

I had the the opportunity to drive around Lake Michigan this summer (in fact, I’m still on that same vacation but just a little closer to home). We mainly drove on the east side and tried to take as many lighthouse tours as we could and playing along the beach. Even though the water was C-O-L-D, the kids still enjoyed getting in and walking along the beach. So this card reminds me of all that and couldn’t be a better card to post at this time. I love all the elements and details – it makes it feel timeless like capturing one of our moments.

Let’s Celebrate

Are you looking for a fun background to use on your birthday cards? This word puzzle is perfect for the job. It comes blank if you want your recipient to find the words but also includes the answer key which I used here on my card. Then I used the little animal balloons to add some colors.

Up in the air

This is one of my favorite cards I created with the new Happy Day Balloons clear set. I used the smiley faces from the Sentiment Tiles Heartfelt Thoughts and then added the lizard/newt on the square Mylar balloon from the Desert Tiles Unexpected Wonder. Then I chose to keep the color pallet simple and bright and use a new rectangle die to complete the look. It was quick to put together yet I think it has a great impact.

Are you over the hill yet?

I’m not sure where I was going with this card but knew I wanted to use lots of gray and white. Somehow the glitter ended up on there and now it’s everywhere around my desk too – so in way because of that, this card matches my mood. Next time I would do a few things different but this will still work for a birthday card. I enjoyed this combination of stamps and I think these balloons are the perfect size – small enough to add many on a card and large enough to catch your attention! Plus, all the tiles clear stamps fit inside – bonus!!
