Polka Dot Pals Neva

Check this out!  Well, not too closely but you can still check it out.  LOL  This is Polka Dot Pals Neva from Little Miss Muffet Stamps on a page in my travel journal (aka The Poor Richard’s Almanac book).  I’ve colored this one with Prismacolor pencils which went well for the most part.  However, I had some difficulty with the paper and the colors started to rub off.  You can see that around the left knee and the package ribbon.

One of the things I wanted to try out was a shadow behind the image looking like it’s cast upon the wall.  However, I don’t think it worked very well and I’m not sure why.  I shifted the shadow to the right but perhaps if I had also shifted it down that might have helped.  Something to try on the next one. 😀

Polka Dot Pals Lottie

This is Polka Dot Pals Lottie from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and is one of my favorites from this season!  Partly because this was the stamp that I had made for the coloring retreat when we all got together in March – best weekend eva!  The other part is because she is so fun to color – just look at all that hair – what a dream.  😀

This is the second card that I created for the classes I taught at Scrapping Goodtime in June (which now I’m thinking it was in May?!)  But never the less, we were working on light source and breaking down the image into sections so we could focus on where the light part should be and where the darker part should be.  I always think it’s easier to work on light source with monochromatic colors so transposing the same concepts to colors always takes our brains for a ride.  In addition, I tend to keep my colors lighter and so the effect is more subtle.

This coloring along was done using the Marvy Le Plume markers and the card layout was kept simple so we could focus more on the coloring part rather than the card making part.  (Which I think is the better portion anyway.  LOL)  The weekend was great and full of other coloring too – so stay tuned and watch for more inspiration to pop up!  *Hugs

Polka Dot Pals Lottie

Are you ready for some red, white and blue hair?  Just in time for the summer to begin this is a scene I had stamped at the Texas Coloring Retreat back in March – and was lucky enough to color her among some great friends!!  Here she is now on a finished card.  Check it out…

I had fun with this image – as you can see – by coloring her hair blue and also using creative color placement to give this girl a face.  I wanted to go with big eyes and chubby cheeks so I think I got that mostly accomplished.  The ink I used was a gray instead of black to give is a softer look.

Thanks for coming by and have a great weekend!

Little Miss Muffet Stamps are sponsoring the current Challenge at Sketch Saturday, (please pop over to Sketch Saturday for all the details) and this week, it’s a special week…

Today, Sketch Saturday is celebrating 6 years! Jo Edwards posted the very first sketch Challenge on 31 May 31 2008.To help celebrate 6 years of sketches, we are having a Blog Hop with Little Miss Jo, and the Sketch Saturday Design Team! There are prizes hidden along the Blog Hop, so leave a comment at each stop on the Hop to maximize your chances of winning!

For the challenge you can use any past sketch between #211 and 315; so for my project I’ve used Sketch #222 as the bases for my creation.  Check it out…

Here are the stamps that I’ve used on this card, all from Little Miss Muffet Stamps:

Happy Birthday Faye!

This is a project I’ve drawn and created for a special friend on her very special day – it’s Faye’s birthday today and I hope she’s celebrating in style!  I even dragged out my colored pencils and tried to do something different.  😀  So if you know Faye, or just like wishing someone Happy Birthday, then head on over to her blog and wish her a very Happy Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAYE!!

The Little Misses have also gotten together and posted a bunch of inspiration using this image on the Little Miss Muffet Blog.  I didn’t have my project finished when the post when live, so you got a preview over there and the full project here.  The image is Polka Dot Pals Faye and was inspired by Faye herself… especially the glitter portion.  She actually “glitter bombed” me in the mail and I literally got glitter everywhere – yikes!  So take her seriously when she says she’s going to put glitter on your desk… no matter where you live!  LOL

Among other things, Faye is an awesome gal and I’m so grateful to have her as a friend.  Thank you for all that you do too and I hope you’re having a magical day!  *Hugs

Polka Dot Pals Leilani

We have an inspiration blog post at Little Miss Muffet Stamps today and I wanted to display the card I used the for the Cheeks & Nose Tutorial.   I still have the other sheet that I used and was thinking about an eye tutorial… but… maybe another day when I have some more time.  It’s still on my desk, however, so maybe. In the mean time, here’s a warm seasoned Christmas card…

I used Polka Dot Pals Leilani and Palm Christmas Tree, both from Little Miss Muffet Stamp.  The colors were grabbed from a spring paper pad that I have plus a bit of green scraps to help bring in the Christmas colors.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you have a great week!
