Batty Princess

We have a fantastic new challenge for you this week at Make it Colourful and it’s certainly and challenging challenge! We want to see Coloring Mist on your project!! But the good news is you can use any medium you want as long as your coloring. 😀 So get out your markers, paints, pencils, and anything else you can find, and come join us this week!

For my project I created mist on the Spooky Graveyard from Make it Crafty and I found Batty Princess from Kraftin’ Kimmy from my stash to pare up with it. I thought she would be perfect walking out of that graveyard so princess like!

The mist was a little difficult to start on but I followed a few tips from Delphine and jumped right in. First I Googled “morning mist” then used T0 and T1 to lightly color in where I wanted the mist to be. Then I started building up the around those areas getting darker and darker with the Toner grays. Finally, I started added color and bringing out the elements.

The sky was colored with light circles going from T0 secquentally down to T6 with a little B91 and B93 mixed in with it. I colored Batty Princess with blacks as well keeping with the theme but enjoyed giving her green eyes and red hair. The red hair mixture is from Annika and I think it’s my new favorite combination – D59, E19, E08, and YR14.

Most of the color comes from the paper and I had to cut, tape, rearrange and glue to get it to fit but I’m happy with how it turned out. The border paper was 6×6 and I had to get it to fit around the 5×8 paper…. so no peeking under the graveyard image!! LOL Finally I added a small tag and some silver flowers to finish it off. I loved how it turned out and hope it gives you some ideas.

Lavender the Quilter

Happy Birthday QuiltingInTexas!! It’s my Mom’s birthday this week and I made this card especially for her. ;D This image is Lavender the Quilter from Kraftin’ Kimmie and has been high on my list since she’s been released. I colored her with blue eyes and blonde hair to resemble what my Mom would look like when she first started quilting.

The quilt was actually fun to color but it was difficult to keep the pattern visualized as I was coloring – for example, I kept getting the yellow patches confused between an hourglass pattern and the one I was using, the pinwheel.

The rest of the card is a CASE’d from Elaine as I loved her simple layout and the details she added were perfect. I managed to find a matching flower and finished it up with some chippies from Make it Crafty. Hope you like the card and Happy Birthday Mom!

Genevieve

Welcome to another Saturday and challenge at Make it Colourful! This week we’re challenging you to change the colors of your embellishment… any of your embellishments. So get out your markers, ink refills, paints and whatnot and come along to join in the challenge. ;D

I colored three of my embellishments… (1) Colored the ivory lace ribbon with my YR18 Copic marker, (2) colored the white Prima flowers with YR18, YR14, YR12 and Y23; and lastly (3) painted the chippies (Filigree Jewels from Make it Crafty) with Silver Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber.

The images used are Genevieve from Kraftin’ Kimmy Stamps and in the background I used the Steampunk Flying Machine from Make it Crafty. For some reason orange and green always goes well together so with all the green on the project, I chose a bright orange for the hair. I think I used Y32, YR12, YR14 and Y18 – the same colors as the flowers.

This is the eleveth page in my journal and as you can see there is no way this book is ever closing flat again! It’s even to the point that it props itself up from the other pages… as you can see. ;D But just as well… the journal will look better opened than closed. LOL

I used a type set alphabet to create the sentiment… “Adventure”. I wasn’t sure how to attach them because the prongs would go through the paper and thought I must be missing a tool or something. So I just bent all the prongs in then attached them with glue dots – an easy fix for now. ;D

Hope you enjoy this project and have a great weekend full of coloring! 😀

Oh I forgot to mention that I have all the these journal pages labeled with “… Art Journal” so you can click on that and see all the pages in the book. And those clouds were colored with B52, B21, C3, C1, B00, and B000.

Perfect Poison

I made this card using Perfect Poison from Kraftin’ Kimmie. I couldn’t resit doing one more card and wasn’t sleeping well anyway. So, the challenges are to create a card or project with a spooky/Gothic or Halloween theme and to use a pumpkin. I’ve have a stack if Kraftin’ Kimmie stamps that I haven’t gotten to yet and this was a perfect opportunity!

Did you know? In The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Adams, 1979), a race of hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings built a computer named Deep Thought to calculate the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. The answer: 42.
