Marlene

The challenge is to create a card or project based on the inspirational sketch provided. I’m restricted to taking picture during the day… so does anyone have any picture lighting suggestions for night time shots? 😀

Charlotte Maid

Thank you everyone for your participation in last week’s blog candy! I’m so excited about everyone following my blog and I hope you continue to enjoy my daily creations.

The moment you’ve been waiting for and without further ado … the two winners of the blog candy are Axa (Crafts & Love) and Sheila (ScrappingAll). Congratulations ladies!! Contact me at ForgottenScraps(at)gmail(dot)com in the next 48 hours with your mailing address and I’ll get your package of goodies sent out this week!

I made this card using Charlotte Maid by A. Acton from Whiff of Joy. This card has actually been half way assembled on my desk for a while now but I had hang ups on putting it together. (Unfortunately, that’s why I don’t have the marker numbers listed.) I had a stampers’ block!

Main Stamp: Charlotte Maid (WoJ)
Patterned Paper: unknown scraps
Spellbinders: Nestabilities Labels Eleven
Copic Colors: (unknown)

Did you know? The Sterling Hill Mine is a former iron and zinc mine in Ogdensburg, New Jersey. It was the last working underground mine in New Jersey when it closed in 1986 and later became a museum in 1989. Together with the Franklin mine, there are 345 types of minerals in the area and 35 of those minerals have not been found anywhere else!

Updated: Speaking of Blog Candy, the artist of this Fathom Calmsea stamp, Amy, has reached a milestone of 1000 sheets of paper! Since she started making cards for her blog, she kept track of the different papers by setting aside a square of each. I think it’s cool that it’s been sorted by color – that’s something I would do. She has some really beautiful cards on her blog and is one of my sources of inspiration!

Did you know? A paternoster lift, or cyclic elevator, consists of a chain of open compartments that move slowly in a vertical loop inside a building without stopping. Compartments were usually designed for two passengers who would step in or out at any floor they like. They were first built in 1884 and can still be found in many countries, including Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and the UK.

Did you know? The Northeast Greenland National Park is the world’s largest national park, with an area of 375,000 sq mi (972,000 km), and is the only national park in Greenland. It is inhabited by muskox, polar bears, walrus, seals, narwhals, belugas and surprisingly many other mammals.

Purfect Day

I used the Purfect Day digital stamp from Wags’n Whiskers. For a cheery festive feel, I added sparkles to the hats, wrapped gift and, of course, the pink shoes.

Did you know? Narwhal whales, or unicorn whales, are characterized mainly by a single tusk on the left side of the upper jaw. To get an idea how long the tusk can be, a male narwhal’s body length is 13-16 ft (4-5m) long but the tusk can extend out another 9.8 ft (3 m) long. About 1 in 500 males have two tusks.

I found this tip out the hard way and thought to pass it along. When working with velvet ribbon, be cautious to put adhesive on the back. If the adhesive, glue dot or tape comes off then it will also pull out the velvet flock with it, leaving that area sparse or even bare!
