Lil Lolita Lylah

I made this card using Lil Lolita Lylah from Tickled Pink Stamps. Lylah is one of my favorites because she can be used for any occasion, this time for Christmas. The challenge is to use two or more textures and layers; my texture is the layered paper and ribbon flowers. The other challenge is shabby or vintage, and I file this under shabby.

The background is made up of 15 sheets of decorative paper, each pattern from the paper stack used. They’ve been cut and layered to resemble roof shingles. Each piece has been turned slightly upward which gives it a nice texture. Plus, fingering down the front is as soothing as digging into a barrel of beans!

Did you know?
The cryptic mantis is a mantid native to southern Africa. Its common name comes from its ability to grow asymmetrically to match the vegetation of its environment. The only green portion are the leaf-like wings.

Did you know? The Strait of Dover is the narrowest part of the English Channel where the shortest distance across the strait is reduced to 21 miles (34 km). On a clear day, it is possible to see the opposite coastline and shoreline buildings with the naked eye, and the lights of land at night as in Matthew Arnold’s poem “Dover Beach”.

Did you know? Nielsen ratings are audience measurement systems that determine the audience size and composition of television programming. Ratings are gathered in one of two ways: (1) Viewer “diaries”, in which a target audience self-records its viewing or listening habits; and (2) A more technologically sophisticated system uses Set Meters, which are small devices connected to televisions in selected homes.

Did you know? A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning. The words may be spelled the same, such as rose (flower) and rose (past tense of “rise”), or differently, such as carat, caret and carrot. The word derives from the Greek words homo (same) and phone (voice, utterance).
