I made these cards using Mouse under Partyhat from Whiff of Joy. This was the perfect image to use for birthday card invitations and turned to color easily. I made 30 of them but didn’t do as much shading on the others, as I’m sure you understand. ;D

Did you know? A rare textile made from the silk of more than a million wild spiders is now display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. To produce this unique golden cloth, 70 people spent four years collecting golden orb spiders from telephone poles in Madagascar, while another dozen workers carefully extracted about 80 feet of silk filament from each of the arachnids. In this unique lamba cloth, the individual threads used for weaving are made by twisting 96 to 960 individual spider silk filaments together. The resulting 11-foot by 4-foot textile is the only large piece of cloth made from natural spider silk existing in the world today.[Spider Silk, American Museum of Natural History]

A Gift for You

The challenge this week over at Lollipop Crafts is a 1-2-3 Recipe and to make something using 1 decorative paper, 2 stamps and 3 embellishments. But today is also a special post because we are celebrating a surprise birthday…

Happy Birthday Kim Yu!

We all hope you have a wonderful birthday today and with lots of R&R. 😀

I made this card using A Gift for You from Sugar Nellie Stamps plus a bear from P. Hillman. I saw a wonderful card created by Kim (PaperBabe) and had to try one out, so that is how this layout came about. I also colored the dress following the Color Copic Me coloring clothes tutorial and used fall colors for the Teddy challenge.

Did you know? After a hiatus of over five years, in February 2009, Siegfried & Roy gave their final act with Montecore, their white tiger, as a benefit for The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute. This performance featured one of Siegfried & Roy’s signature illusions, in which Siegfried and Montecore magically switched places from within separate, locked transparent enclosures.

Did you know? The “Boredom Dodger” is a manuscript on the game of chess written around 1500 by Luca Pacioli, a leading mathematician of the Renaissance. It was created when rules of the game were evolving to the ones we know today and contains over a hundred chess problems to be solved. The long-lost manuscript was rediscovered in 2006 and has since been suggested that the chess pieces in its illustrations were designed by Leonardo da Vinci.
