Bikkie with Pumpkin

I made this card using Bikkie with Pumpkin from The Stamping Bazaar designed by Marina Neira. Because the background was so colorful, I thought it would be perfect to color Bikkie in black and white.

Did you know? Lydia Kamakaʻeha Kaola Maliʻi Liliʻuokalani, was the last monarch and only queen regnant of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. She was an accomplished author and songwriter and is said to have played guitar, piano, organ, ʻukulele and zither. Her book, Hawaiʻi’s Story by Hawaiʻi’s Queen, gave her view of the history of her country and her overthrow and therefore became the first Native Hawaiian female author.

Did you know? Cued Speech is a system of communication used with and among deaf or hard of hearing people. It is a phonemic-based system which makes traditionally spoken languages accessible by using a small number of handshapes (representing consonants) in different locations near the mouth (representing vowels), as a supplement to lipreading.

Update: I made the top four at Simply Betty Stamps for this challenge!

Gertie, Millie & Hattie

The challenge this week at Lollipop Crafts is to create a card or project with a rainbow. I made this card using Gertie, Millie & Hattie from High Hopes and added a rainbow made out of cardstock. A rainbow doesn’t have to include all the colors of the spectrum, as you can see, this one just includes the colors found on my card.

Did you know? One type of metamorphosis in insects is called holometabolism, where the larvae differ markedly from the adults such as caterpillars to butterflies. While the insect has entered the inactive state (pupa, or chrysalis) it will excrete digestive juices to destroy much of the larva’s body, leaving a few cells intact. Then those remaining cells will begin the growth of the adult form using the nutrients from the broken down larva.

Snowflake Chloe

I made this card using Snowflake Chloe from InStyle Stamps which will be released later this month! It’s rare to combine red with snowflakes but the decorative paper looked like snowflakes to me so this is how the color combination came to be. Besides, in Texas we hardly ever have “blue” or white winters, just a lot of frost and frozen ice! The challenge entered was a cute holiday card.

Did you know? The North Pole, also known as the Geographic North Pole or Terrestrial North Pole, is located in the middle of the Arctic Ocean amidst waters that are almost permanently covered with constantly shifting sea ice. It defines geodetic latitude 90° North and because all lines of longitude converge there, its longitude can be defined as any degree value.

This is for the 8th day of Halloween where the challenge is to create a card or project based using Zombies or Witch Cauldrons. So I made this card using Betty Witch from Simply Betty Stamps. I almost didn’t make this challenge but after this there are only 4 more Days of Halloween left! 😀

Did you know? Père Noël is a legendary gift-giver during Christmas in France and French-speaking areas, identified with Father Christmas or Santa Claus in English speaking territories. According to tradition, on Christmas Eve children leave their shoes by the fireplace filled with carrots and treats for Père Noël’s donkey, Gui (French for “Mistletoe”) before they go to bed. Père Noël takes the offerings and, if the child has been good, leaves presents in their place.

Susie with Pie

I made this card using Susie with Pie from The Stamping Bazaar drawn by Marina Neira and placed her against the Wacky House from Make it Crafty. Both images had a country feel and I thought it would be a fun match.

There is also some exciting news from each of these companies! From The Stamping Bazaar… don’t miss out on the Little Elf with Present Digi Giveaway which is going on until tomorrow night! Plus keep an eye on the Make it Crafty blog this weekend for a big announcement!

Sometimes coloring the empty sky is the funnest part – on this one I had drawn swirly clouds on a separate sheet of paper and traced them on the main image with the blue marker.

I entered this card into the Fuzzy Wuzzy challenge which was to use multiple images. Now on to the fun announcement of Blog Candy! The random WINNER of the InStyle Stamps BLOG CANDY is…

Nikki — CONGRATULATIONS!

Did you know? The Hexabranchus Sanguiseus was given the common name “Spanish dancer” because the whirling swimming movement, and the red color of the mantle, are reminiscent of the skirt movements of a flamenco dancer.
