Did you know? An afterimage is an optical illusion that refers to an image continuing to appear in one’s vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased. One of the most common afterimages is the bright glow that seems to float before one’s eyes after looking into a light source for a few seconds. The phenomenon of afterimages may be closely related to persistence of vision, which allows a rapid series of pictures to portray motion.

Tips, Tricks & Techniques 0x01D

When using ABC plates for dry embossing and metal dies, it is suggested to alternate the surface of the cutting plate, Plate B, the thinnest plate, to prevent warping or breaking. However, over time plates A and C can also warp but because they are thicker, it often goes unnoticed until there is a problem. To prevent this, the way I remember to flip them is to have all plates facing the same direction when in use. So if I’m using Plate B upside down then I make sure to use the other plates upside down as well and visa versa. That way, I know Plates A & C are getting the pressure applied evenly throughout their use and warping is prevented.

Rio

I made this card using Rio from Simply Betty Stamps for the 10th Day of Halloween Challenge! The challenge is to create a card or project using spiders and with a skirt like that, Rio and spiders naturally go together. 😀

I used spiders from all over the house including a purple ring spider and the Lego spider in the center, not to mention spider paper and another fun metal medallion I found at the local scrapbook store. This was the first time I fumbled around making the paper medallion behind it; and I might make another one, maybe. ;D

Did you know? Hydroelectricity is the term referring to electricity generated by hydropower; the production of electrical power through the use of the gravitational force of falling or flowing water. It is the most widely used form of renewable energy. Once a hydroelectric complex is constructed, the project produces no direct waste.

Did you know? Museum Maluku (MuMa), is a museum dedicated to the Moluccas and the Moluccan community living in the Netherlands. Approximately 12,500 Moluccans arrived in the Netherlands on a temporary basis in 1951 following the end of Dutch colonial rule in Indonesia. Though initially meant to be temporary residents, the Dutch government began regarding the Moluccans as permanent residents of the country in 1956 and began promoting integration within Dutch society.

Mushroom House

The challenge this time at Make it Crafty is to create a card or project based on the sketch provided with a vintage theme. I made this card using Mushroom House and Christmas Elves from Make it Crafty.

I started off with vintage style holiday paper but in the end the card looks more modern than vintage! Here’s the Mushroom House before it was covered. The other challenges were to make a holiday card; use red and green; and something metallic (brads).
