Did you know? In Harry Potter, The ride on the Hogwarts Express starts from King’s Cross railway station platform 9¾ and is reached by walking through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Rowling discovered after the books were published that she had confused the layout of King’s Cross since there is no platform. To solve this, the filmmakers re-numbered platforms 4 and 5 for the duration of filming. Today, an area in King’s Cross Station has been decorated with a cast iron ‘Platform 9¾’ sign, complete with a luggage trolley ‘stuck’ halfway through the wall as tribute to the book.

Darling Sisters

Welcome to my corner of the Hoppin’ into the Holidays Blog Hop where I used one the Darling Sisters stamp for the “Let it Snow” category. This is a simple layout but works well to bring out the pattern paper and decorative die! “Almost” makes me wish for snow this winter. 😀

Did you know? Grand Central Terminal (GCT), often referred to as Grand Central Station, is a terminal station at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Built by and named for the New York Central Railroad in the heyday of American long-distance passenger trains, it is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms: 44 platforms on two levels with the total number of tracks along platforms and in rail yards exceeds 100.

Tristan

I made this card using Tristan from Simply Betty Stamps for the 2nd Day of Christmas Challenge. The challenge is to create a card or project inspirational by Grinch. If Grinch can still Christmas from his neighbors… then I thought Tristan could still it too. Besides, the neighbor’s yard is just too festive for November!

Here’s the details of the Christmas Elves House by Make it Crafty before it was covered. Just ignore the red splotch in the corner… it started out as a drip that I tried to disguise and finally cover it. And for the Thomas Kinkade fans… every light has been turned on!

Did you know? The Grinch is a fictional character created by Dr. Seuss and first appeared in the 1957 children’s book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The devious, anti-holiday spirit of the character has led to the name “Grinch” becoming a term used to describe a person opposed to Christmastime celebrations or to someone with a coarse, greedy attitude.

Did you know? International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, U.S., who proclaimed 19 September each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. According to Summers, the day is the only holiday to come into being as a result of a sports injury. He has stated that during a racquetball game between Summers and Baur, one of them reacted to the pain with an outburst of “Aaarrr!”, and the idea was born. That game took place on June 6, 1995, but out of respect for the observance of D-Day, they chose Summers’ ex-wife’s birthday, as it would be easy for him to remember.

Did you know? Corduroy is a textile composed of twisted fibers that, when woven, lie parallel (similar to twill) to one another to form the cloth’s distinct pattern, a “cord.” Modern corduroy is most commonly composed of tufted cords, sometimes exhibiting a channel (bare to the base fabric) between the tufts. Corduroy is, in essence, a ridged form of velvet.

Did you know? In physics, all magnets have two poles that are distinguished by the direction of the magnetic flux. Based on the early use of magnets in compasses they were named the “north pole” (or more explicitly “north-seeking pole”), “N”, and the “south pole” (or “south-seeking pole”), “S”. Because opposite poles attract, the Earth’s North Magnetic Pole is therefore, by this definition, physically a magnetic field south pole. Conversely, the Earth’s South Magnetic Pole is physically a magnetic field north pole.
