Did you know? In Harry Potter, The ride on the Hogwarts Express starts from King’s Cross railway station platform 9¾ and is reached by walking through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Rowling discovered after the books were published that she had confused the layout of King’s Cross since there is no platform. To solve this, the filmmakers re-numbered platforms 4 and 5 for the duration of filming. Today, an area in King’s Cross Station has been decorated with a cast iron ‘Platform 9¾’ sign, complete with a luggage trolley ‘stuck’ halfway through the wall as tribute to the book.

I made this card using Tristan from Simply Betty Stamps for the 2nd Day of Christmas Challenge. The challenge is to create a card or project inspirational by Grinch. If Grinch can still Christmas from his neighbors… then I thought Tristan could still it too. Besides, the neighbor’s yard is just too festive for November!


Here’s the details of the Christmas Elves House by Make it Crafty before it was covered. Just ignore the red splotch in the corner… it started out as a drip that I tried to disguise and finally cover it. And for the Thomas Kinkade fans… every light has been turned on!

Did you know? International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD) is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, U.S., who proclaimed 19 September each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. According to Summers, the day is the only holiday to come into being as a result of a sports injury. He has stated that during a racquetball game between Summers and Baur, one of them reacted to the pain with an outburst of “Aaarrr!”, and the idea was born. That game took place on June 6, 1995, but out of respect for the observance of D-Day, they chose Summers’ ex-wife’s birthday, as it would be easy for him to remember.
