Monster Balloons

Here’s a bright and cheery card featuring my new stamp, Monster Balloons. This time I colored him in an ice blue with chocolate spots and sherbet colored balloons. Yummy! 😀 This card is a reminder for two challenges, the first is Lollipop Crafts, who I’ve sponsored this week, and for my own 2nd Challenge. Hope you can come along and play in both!

Challenge: Make it Crafty – Australia Day Challenge (Aussie Slang Interpretation)

Have you ever heard the term “Well I’ll be buggered!” recently? You probably think it has to do with a water dam, and perhaps you’re right, however, we’re talking about Australia here. This term is of utmost importance and may one day safeguard your most treasured secrets against espionage. It all started back in 1818 when it was primarily used by corporations and the government, and was a key signal to disrupt confidential conversations if someone suspected an eavesdropper. Today it is widely used in much the same way and does wonders to baffle all those involved. So the next time you’re discussing family secrets with your hubby and you suspect your kids are listen in, then just take a deep strong breath and shout “Well I’ll be buggered!”

Did you know? Within Australia’s Organ Pipes National Park, there are 400 million year old volcanic geological formations, most notable the hexagonal basalt columns known as the “Organ Pipes”. These are set in a vertically standing formation, in layers, as if thickly welded together. The rock formation emerged as the result of slow cutting of a deep valley in the basaltic plains over several centuries by the Maribyrnong River. Study of the fossils in volcanic rock formations have been inferred as sedimentary rocks that got buried under the sea about 400 million years ago.
