Happy happy

My goal this week was to use the City Street Background rubber stamp in non-super hero ways. For this card, I continued the black and white theme on the background. Coloring the city that way is super easy and a quick way to use it. Today I thought I would experiment and base my card off of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. However, I didn’t want to spend a lot of coloring time and adding details but thought I could use the Party Animal Balloons and pop them on there. So this is my take of a parade-idea-theme as a birthday card.

No finer place for sure

Yesterday I mentioned that I had two songs stuck in my head while coloring this background and today I’m tipping my hat to the second song – “Downtown” by Petula Clark’s song. I also chose to go with black and white since the song was recorded in 1964 and this combination of images reminded me of the original music video. For this little gal, Polka Dot Pals Ophelia, she’s so happy because she everything is gonna be alright now, she can forget all her troubles, forget all her cares and go downtown!

Movin’ on up

Oh ya, we’re moving on up to the east side! With the new City Street Background rubber stamp, I was looking for different ways to use the background without having a hero themed card. While I was jotting down my idea, I found that I was singing two songs in my head… the Jefferson’s theme song “Movin’ On Up” and the Petula Clark’s “Downtown” song. (Oh I hope that doesn’t date me! LOL) So today’s card is an ode to Jefferson’s theme song and pie.

Believe in yourself

The new releases this week from Whimsy Stamps is a fun expansion on the comic book theme but instead of going super hero, I decided I wanted to create this card. Even if you’re a super hero, sometimes you just need to take time out for yourself. This background should look familiar and if you want to learn how to color it then check out my Zoom Coloring Classes and select the Orlando Owl class.

Hola señora Frida Kahlo

This is not who you think it is… really, it’s not! This is Polka Dot Pals Colton clear set that I stamped in a light color of ink then colored him using creative color placement. Colton is going to be one of the images we use in the Sproatmeyer Coloring Toolbox Retreat this October and I’m excited to talk about transforming your stamps like this. If you haven’t signed up, there is still room and still time to get on the list. We’re going to go over loads of stuff for you to put in your coloring toolbox of knowledge. This will be a retreat like no other and I’m so excited to share my knowledge and talent with y’all.

More party balloons

Here’s more party balloons and these ones have faces on them – so cute! I wanted to make a bright and cheery card using the Party Animal Balloons stamp set which also has a coordinating Party Animal Balloons Outline die set. I started out with a basic background and added some texture with the cheese cloth. Then the fun part began as I stamped and colored up those adorable party animals – I loved using bright colors! Lastly I used the sentiment from the set to finish it off.
