Flutterby

Just posting a fun card I made using Flutterby from Tiddly Inks – she was such a cutie-patotie that I couldn’t resist! 😀 I really wanted to work with large areas to practice some new techniques so I printed her out large. I practiced adding folds and creases with shading in the jeans. It’s going to be an upcoming challenge (hint, hint, but I didn’t say where either) so I’m working out the technique.

The paper I used was perfect because it had so many colors to choose from – yet the image is large enough that it doesn’t look to busy to me. I embellished it with a few gems, flower and chippies too. I even added Stickles to the butterfly wings for fun. Hope you enjoy it!

Did you know? A tongue-twister is a phrase that is designed to be difficult to articulate properly, and can be used as a type of spoken (or sung) word game. Some tongue-twisters produce results which are humorous (or humorously vulgar) when they are mispronounced, while others simply rely on the confusion and mistakes of the speaker for their amusement value. For example, the following sentence is identified as the hardest tongue-twister in the English language, according to Guinness World Records.

“The sixth sick sheikh’s sixth sheep’s sick.”

Cookie Bugg & Autumn Bugg

It’s another Tuesday and we have a great challenge at Tiddly Inks to get your week started! The challenge for you is to create something with the theme “Sugar and Spice with a Twist!” We want you to make a sarcastic or humorous. ;D

I took this as the perfect opportunity to use a new sentiment I found from Inkadinkado – this one says “It’s fun to grow up because TV and cookies stop being bad for you.” I created a scene to go with it using Cookie Bugg for the grown up and Autumn Bugg for the little kid (the rebellious disgruntled kid, of course). Then I colored in some expressions on their faces to match.

I’d have to say I totally cracked up laughing when I saw this sentiment at the store because it was soo true and related well to recent experience. Nothing more “telling” than to have your own kids catch you in the act of grabbing an extra snack. LOL

I pulled the card together with a few embellishments: pink gingham ribbon, black gems and a couple black sequin flower centers. The background utilizes a bunch of scrap papers I had in efforts to use up some scraps.

Did you know? A Zeppelin bend (also Rosendahl bend) is a general purpose bend knot. It is a secure, easily tied, and jam-resistant way to connect two ropes. Though its simplicity and security may be matched by other bends, it is unique in the ease with which it is untied, even after heavy loading. Even though it is not very well-known, it is praised by some sources as a nearly ideal bend knot. A bend knot is a knot used to join two lengths of rope. [Zeppelin Bend, Wikipedia.org]

Kids’ Creations

My kids love to create along side of me and have really gotten into the spirit of challenges! They like to follow along in my footsteps and often ask what the challenge I’m making a specific card for. ;D So here are a few of their creations that they wanted to show off…

Bumble Bear Family

Welcome to another challenge at Tiddly Inks and this week our theme for you is one layer cards! This is a perfect opportunity to just color and grab one of those stamps you’ve been meaning to get to for a while. I combined several images and came up with the Bumble Bear Family…

All five of these images on here are from Tiddly Inks and they work together perfectly! I also love the simplicity of one layer cards and can’t wait to see what everyone else creates – so come on over and play!

Did you know? The leatherback sea turtle is the largest of all living sea turtles and the fourth largest modern reptile. It can easily be differentiated from other modern sea turtles by its lack of a bony shell. Instead, its carapace is covered by skin and oily flesh . Leatherback turtles have the most hydrodynamic body design of any sea turtle, with a large, teardrop-shaped body. A large pair of front flippers power the turtles through the water. Like other sea turtles, the leatherback’s flattened forelimbs are adapted for swimming in the open ocean but claws are absent from both pairs of flippers.

Bathing Beauty

It’s Saturday and that means another challenge at Make it Colourful! This week we’re challenging you to color with blues and we’re sponsored by Tiddly Inks. For my project I used Bathing Beauty from Tiddly Inks and The Cove from Make it Crafty.

I used lighter tones of blue for the water and the clouds with the main difference being grays. I had added a little bit of gray to the clouds which really changes the tones of the blue.

I used lots of supplies on my desk and in the scrap pile including the summer time paper. Not sure where it’s from but it fit perfectly with these images. The corners are laser cut embellishments from Make it Crafty which I didn’t paint this time around because I wanted a more natural feel. But I had to add a pearl to dress it up. ;D

I used lots of foam dots on this card and raised up the images to three levels. The center part is cut with a Nestability die in blue then again for the background image, each seperated on the card with foam dots. Finally the girl was added as the third level and pops up the most.

Did you know? Gala is a clonally propagated apple with a mild and sweet flavor. Gala apples ranked at number 2 in 2006 on the US Apple Association’s list of most popular apples, after Red Delicious and before Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, and Fuji (in order).

Chi

It’s another challenge day for Tiddly Inks and our theme this week is Goth. I went with a lot of black, red tipped hair and metal embellishments for this sweet Gothic girl to be showcased on.

The image is Chi and I’ve been wanting to color her for a while. ;D So I image her all dressed up for a prom or something formal. Goth girls do that occasionally, right? I used a hodgepodge of embellishments and just grabbed things I thought would work. I also wanted to use a simple layout to give focus to the main image.

Did you know? Providence is the capital of, and the most populous city in, Rhode Island, and one of the first cities established in the United States. Located in Providence County, it is the estimated third largest city in the New England region and it anchors the 37th largest metropolitan population in the country. Providence was founded in 1636 by Roger Williams, a religious exile from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. He named the area in honor of “God’s merciful Providence”, which he believed was responsible for revealing such a haven for him and his followers to settle.
