Christian

I got so wrapped up in another project that I forgot about the 10th Day, so I’m skipping back in with my 11th Day of Christmas project. We were challenged to create a card or project with fun skully decor. I altered Christian from Simply Betty Stamps and swapped his cap for a more festive hat.

I’m seriously lacking in the skull department now that Halloween is over so I had to be creative and draw some. The large grommets were used to make ornaments, although attaching them turned out to be a challenge but the trusty glue came to the rescue! 😀

Did you know? After his death, Henry IV, King of France (1589 to 1610) and Navarre (1572 to 1610), embalmed head was lost when revolutionaries ransacked the Basilica of St Denis and desecrated his grave in 1793. An embalmed head, reputed to be that of Henry IV, has passed between private collectors since. The French journalist Stephane Gabet followed leads to track down the head and in January 2010 a forensic team confirmed that it was the lost head of Henry IV. The head will be reinterred in the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Denis after a national Mass and funeral in 2011.

Punky Teens & Emo Back 2 School

The 9th Day of Christmas Challenge at Simply Betty Stamps is to create a card or project representing the Ghosts of Christmas Past from the story A Christmas Carol. I used three image as there was a mix-up at the temp agency… apparently all three ghosts were called for the same job!

Did you know? According to Dickens’ novel, the Ghost of Christmas Past appears to Scrooge as a white-robed, androgynous figure of indeterminate age. He had on his head a blazing light, reminiscent of a candle flame. He carried with him a metal cap, made in the shape of a candle extinguisher. While the ghost is often portrayed as a woman in most dramatic adaptations, Dickens describes the Ghost of Christmas Past only as “it”.

On the 9th Day of Christmas my Ghoul Love gave to me… too many ghosts.

Lola

I made this card using Lola for the 7th Day of Christmas Challenge at Simply Betty Stamps. The challenge is to create a card or project using one of their Emo stamps and this is my newest arrival. We were also challenged to use the colors lime green, turquoise and purple – it wasn’t easy to pick the right papers but I finally found a combination that I liked. The colors are soft so click on the pictures for a larger view of the subtle details.

The sprig used has pastel purple flowers and green petal which add a subtle look. The gift was used from a miscellaneous stamp then cut and put on top of Lola’s hand with a foam dot to add dimension.

Steampunk Treehouse

It’s time for the Simply Betty Stamps 6th Day of Christmas Challenge! This time the challenge was to create a card or project with a steampunk theme and I found two images that worked perfectly together. The background house is the Steampunk Treehouse from Make it Crafty and I paired it with Steampunk Gang Grace from Simply Betty Stamps.

Here’s a close up of both images on the card. Click on the picture of a larger and clearer view. I colored the house with mixed metals where the hammered lead is used for supporting areas and weight loads and the copper is used for larger areas and the broiler.

Here’s the background before it was die cut. I wanted most of the metal to be a copper color and spent a long time researching the color… it was difficult to translate it into the Copic colors but I think it turned out okay. Next time I might add a little more green.

I entered a whole bunch of other challenges – not necessary to win prizes but I hoped to get top picks from a few. ;D Plus the comments are always the best part!

I made this card using both Tori and Adam from Simply Betty Stamps for the 4th Day of Christmas Challenge. The challenge is to create a card or project based on the theme “Sugar & Spice and everything Scary!” I used Lonely Tree in the background and added snowflakes to look like the first snowfall of the year.
