Did you know? The Jetsons was a prime-time animated sitcom that was produced by Hanna-Barbera. It was Hanna-Barbera’s Space Age counterpart to The Flintstones, a half-hour family sitcom projecting contemporary American culture and lifestyle into another time period. While the Flintstones live in a world with machines powered by birds and dinosaurs, the Jetsons live in a futuristic utopia in the year 2062 of elaborate robotic contraptions, aliens, holograms, and whimsical inventions.

Scott

I’m excited to help preview the new Simply Betty Stamps‘ Sweet Gothic Kids for Easter and today we’re showing Scott. All six stamps from the Easter line will be released on March 25 in both rubber and digi! I also used this opportunity to use my new paper from My Minds Eye and thought the blue and mustard theme was great for this boy card.

Did you know? The United States Postal Service has no official creed or motto. However, “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” is an inscription on the James Farley Post Office in New York City, derived from a quote from Herodotus’ Histories, referring to the courier service of the ancient Persian Empire. An updated variation also appeared in the USPS 2001 Comprehensive Statement on Postal Operations : “We are mothers and fathers. And sons and daughters. Who every day go about our lives with duty, honor and pride. And neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, nor the winds of change, nor a nation challenged, will stay us from the swift completion of our appointed rounds. Ever.”

Rio Birthday Girl

This is one of those last minute submissions into the Simply Betty Stamps Challenge – I’ve been thinking it’s been Wednesday ALL day today!! So somehow I missed a day in my week and thankfully it wasn’t a Saturday. ;D The challenge this week is to make an all white card except for the coloring.

My strategy was to get all my white items out on the counter and then start putting it together. Because it was mostly white, I wanted to keep the coloring as light as possible so I chose more soft-toned colors and tried to keep some white highlights. One of the things I added was a small note that gets tucked inside a velum envelope on the card.

Did you know? Deep Impact is a NASA space probe launched on January 12, 2005. It was designed to study the composition of the comet interior of 9P/Tempel, by releasing an impactor into the comet. Previous space missions to comets, such as Giotto and Stardust, were fly-by missions. These missions were only able to photograph and examine the surfaces of cometary nuclei from a distance. The Deep Impact mission was the first to eject material from a comet’s surface, and the mission garnered large publicity from the media, international scientists, and amateur astronomers.

Did you know? The Valentines were one of the most highly regarded American Doo Wop groups from the mid 1950s. Their records are highly sought by collectors.Although they never had a record on the national hit parades, they were extremely popular in New York and the East Coast in general and had many regional big sellers. The stage performances of the group were sellouts and their harmonizing and choreography in sequence were amongst the most accomplished of their time.[Valentines (Doo-wop Band), Wikipedia.org]

Emo Valentines Miller

These Valentine cards remind me so much of the smaller one I gave away in elementary school. Now as I look at my kids’ own Valentines, I chuckle at the silly romantics of the messages, old and new, like MARRY ME, ONLY YOU, URA TIGER, SWEET TALK, and KISS ME for example. When did Conversational Hearts get txt messages on them? Apparently they add 10 new ones every year… but we’ll save that trivia for tomorrow’s post. ;D

Did you know? Valentine is a chain of over 100 privately-owned restaurant franchises operating in the province of Quebec, Canada. The first restaurant opened in 1979 in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. A few years later, its founder, Jean-Pierre Robin, opened a second restaurant in Saint-Hyacinthe in order to meet the demand for its “famous hot-dogs”. Soon after, Robin’s brother, Daniel, joined him, convinced of the potential of the company. The menu mainly includes French fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, poutine, club sandwich, hamburger steak, hot chicken sandwich, smoked meats, chicken burger, chicken strips and breakfast items.
