Polka Dot Pals Lirienne

This is Polka Dot Pals Lirienne from Little Miss Muffet Stamps that I used for an eye and face tutorial (a bonus below).  It was fun to use these colors and I’m always a sucker for images with books.  This has been one of my favorites for a while and I had a hard time waiting to post it.  So I hope you enjoy it too!

Here are the two step-by-step tutorials I did with this image.  The first was how to color the eyes.  I basically follow these few steps anytime but just change the colors a little. Lots of times I wait until the whole face is done before doing the eye.  This helps for when I’ve chosen colors that were too light.  When that happens, then I make it darker at the top otherwise I think she’s a bit too wide-eyed.

Here’s the other step-by-step that shows how I build the face.  I only use a couple colors but layer it on while blending and blending.  Hope it helps.  If you are looking for something in between a blank face and this, check out the Polka Dot Pals Add-On Faces, available in both digital and rubber.

Polka Dot Pals Chrissie

This is Polka Dot Pals Chrissie from Little Miss Muffet Stamps which is the one that I used for the face tutorial.  I included that at the bottom so you can pin or bookmark it if you’d like.

For this image I tried to change the light source to come from the lantern.  The clothing was essay to manage but the face was the most difficult.  I pulled up a few images in Google and then tried my best to go against habit and change the way I colored the nose. It isn’t perfect but I like how it turned out.

Coloring the faces is the best part about these Polka Dot Pals for me and it give me an opportunity to experiment.  Here you can see the side-by-side of the before and after.  The Polka Dot Pals also have ready-made faces that you can add if coloring the whole face is a bit scary.  (the Add-On Faces come in both rubber and digital too!)

Polka Dot Pals Trillian

I’ve still got my towel and colored another image.  Whereas I feel like the last one was more of a warm-up, I really liked how this one turned out.  The background is actually part of the color to a colander I had last year.  I liked the starry night feel and just couldn’t manage to toss it.  Now I’m glad I didn’t.

This is Polka Dot Pals Trillian from the Towel Day release and colored it with Polychromos pencils.  I like how her face turned out and using the pencils was a lot easier than using the markers.  That allowed me to build up the area and take it slow.  I also used the Thanks for All the Fist Sentiment and printed that out on Kraft paper.

I’d like to share this project into these challenges . . .

Polka Dot Pals Douglas

Douglas Adams is one of my all time favorite authors so when I heard about Towel Day, I knew I wanted to do something.  Out of all the ideas that came to mind, I settled on drawing up two characters totting their towels around . . . Douglas and Trillian.  So today, in celebration of Towel Day, I’ve created this card using two of the new images.

The images I used on this project are …

Read the Wikipedia article about Towel Day and check this Towel Day website for other events and fun stuff to do to day.  Little Miss Muffet Stamps is listed on there too.  🙂

I have my towel . . . do you know where your’s is?

I’d like to share this project in the following challenges . . .

Polka Dot Pals Sally

This is Polka Dot Pals Sally from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and was colored with some Polychromos pencils.  It was actually one that I colored while camping and we were looking for something to do.  I don’t remember what everyone else colored but we all had a great time!  🙂

There is a new challenge opening up on the LMM Challenge blog and it’s an Anything Goes theme – perfect for any kind of card.  Drop by and share a project.

This project is a little card for my Mom.  The idea was from a tea party invitation I received from my own daughter and I thought it was adorable.  So I reused the doily and twine then inserted a new card in and added some decorations.  Plus the image too, of course.  So . . . from granddaughter to mum to grandmother.  Happy Mother’s day!

Polka Dot Pals Petunia and Sunflower Patch

Meet Polka Dot Pals Petunia … she’s the monthly dollar digi that is being featured in the progressive challenge on Facebook.  I didn’t have a lot of time coloring lately but with a little time here and there, I was able to get the scene completed.  I left the dress for last because I didn’t know what color it should be.  With the advise from the gals in the FB group, I chose white and yellow.  Not sure I got the “bang” I was looking for she still looks nice and I like how the project turned out.  So I can count that as a success.
