Cheshire Chibi Girl

The project I have to share today is a mixture of three different stamps plus some doodling on the side. The character is Cheshire Chibi Girl from Stamp Anything. She is part of the Down the Rabbit Hole kit and Ann was kind enough to share the digital version for me to color. The face was replaced with the one from Polka Dot Pals Syeda from Whimsy Stamps. Then the background is a freebie from Sandy Allnock called Stay Home Stay Safe. Lastly, I doodled some flying geese in the background to finish off the scene.

Check out the YouTube video where I show how I colored the face:
Coloring Polka Dot Pal Add-on Faces

I started this project by coloring the sky. I knew I wanted to go with something non-blue and that would help me set the color pallet for the rest of the project. Unfortunately, it sort of threw me off and so I don’t think the colors coordinate as well as I would liked them to have. But it’s all good and still fun.
After coloring the background and buildings, I jumped into coloring the beanie hat. The original character has a cat but I really wanted to add some extra coloring details and went with a knitted hat instead. Since I printed the image out in a light gray, I just used creative color placement and colored right over the cat hat.
The face and hair was colored while recording so you can watch the video for those details. In the foreground, I added a sidewalk with some grass details. Lastly, I added some flying geese silhouettes in the background to help break up the skyline.

Polka Dot Pals Mason’s Unicorn

A while back I had stamped an extra unicorn from the Polka Dot Pals Mason set. I’m not sure if it was a good stamp or not enough room around it but I didn’t need it and set it aside. I figured I could use the back to re-stamp something. But a better idea came along and I ended up using it for this bookmark.

The sentiments that come with the Polka Dot Pals sets are longer but sometimes I can find shorter words to use when needed. So for this project, I found “ABLE” within “HUGGABLE” to use on the bookmark.
No sooner did I have this bookmark done than it was claimed by an avid reader in the house. Sigh, I will have to make another one. I needed one too but I’m more glad that she’ll enjoy using it.

Polka Dot Pals Syeda Prairie Piglet DCS

I’m excited to share that I have TWO new YouTube videos uploaded and they both feature this project. This is a digital coloring scene from Whimsy Stamps named Polka Dot Pals Syeda Prairie Piglet. It’s a complete scene that is ready to color so there is no merging or cropping.

Check out my YouTube videos:
Clothing with No-Lines
Adding Grass Details

The first video I created shows the coloring on the clothing. This image was printed out in a light gray color for a no-lines effect. The second video shows how I added the grassy details in the foreground.
I kept the card simple. I trimmed up the scene by using a large border die with stitching then adhered it to my card base. I then added some glitter glue to her headband and boots plus some clear glaze to the frog’s eyes.

Polka Dot Pals Mason and Campsite

I want to go camping! So coloring this project was therapeutic for my stay-at-home office blues. It started with the DoveArt Campsite rubber stamp. I was originally going to pair it with another Pal (where I decided to get the sentiment from) but chose to go with Polka Dot Pals Mason. I think it turned out awesome.

To make these, I stamped the background with multiple colors by using the ink pad directly to the stamps and inking just portions – Blue for the water, green for the trees and brown for the tent, ground and trunks. To help the character standout, I stamped her in black.
The “adventure” sentiment was from the Polka Dot Pals Raden set and I used Distressed Ink to stamp it in various colors. I had done this on a previous card and liked the outcome so it was fun to be able to do it again.

Polka Dot Pals Raden and Polka Dot Pals Atlas

It’s not much of a secret to know that my kids inspire my drawings of the Polka Dot Pals and I think Polka Dot Pals Atlas is inspired most by my Amelia. Everyone she meets becomes her best friend and so is this happy girl ready to share her love. This is Polka Dot Pals Raden and Polka Dot Pals Atlas together.

I’ve been working up the courage to do more adventurous backgrounds. However, I seem to default to the simply sky with grass and hills. It feels like such a big jump but I’ll take it slow and easy and a little at a time.
Here’s a progression photo. I stamped the characters in a light ink so I didn’t have to worry about masking. These two fit together but I need to be careful of the arm placement. When they were colored up it looked like they shared an arm. So next time I’ll stamp Polka Dot Pals Atlas a bit higher. For this one, I did some doctoring and tried to fix my mistake.
The flowers are from the Polka Dot Pals Syeda stamp which makes for a nice ground. I added some “magic” with the white gel pen and also some smaller red dots for flowers on the background hills with Liquid Pearls.

Polka Dot Pals Mason and Polka Dot Pals Atlas

Friends forever! These two characters were made to be friends from the start. Literally. When I drew them I had imagined this exact pose and couldn’t wait to color them up. This is Polka Dot Pals Mason and Polka Dot Pals Atlas.

Two of the Polka Dot Pals characters fit on the same card either portrait or landscape. I haven’t done a landscape card for a while so I went with that orientation.
I stamped the characters in a light color so I wouldn’t have to worry about masking. I also added the bow to Polka Dot Pals Atlas from another set. Polka Dot Pals Mason was barefoot so I decided I would color Atlas the same and ignored her shoes.
I remember I had a favorite red-head color combination from years ago but haven’t been able to recreate it. I knew there was some yellow, orange and brown but didn’t know which. So I spent some time going through my past posts and finally came across a post that actually listed the color. So in case you want it too, it is: YR31, 14, 27, E07, 08, 49
