Welcome to Hollywood Day 2

Welcome back to the second day of the Hollywood release!  Make it Crafty and Simply B Stamps have teamed up to bring you this fabulous theme of Hollywood characters and backgrounds that you can mix and match to recreate a variety of movies and more.  😀

You should have arrived here from the fabulous ALYCE!

For my card today I used Beauty Spa Rio from Simply B Stamps and the Beauty Salon Set from Make it Crafty and merged them together to come up with this fun scene that is reminiscent of a glamorous Hollywood Star prepping for her next movie.  😀  I thought it would be fun to show that the salon could be used for other purposes – with all the individual elements the ideas are practically endless!

Don’t forget to leave comments along the way for a chance to win some awesome prizes – then tomorrow come back for Day 3 and a fun movie guessing game!  You’ll have a chance to win the entire release plus the movie of your choice!!  You could make it a coloring slash movie date at your house for a fun girls night out.  😀  And if you can’t wait, there is also a great sale going on where the collection are 25% off during the hop duration.

I also took this opportunity to use my new diecut door and create a Hollywood Star door for the background!  The diecut is called the Park Glen Door Diecut from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and I just released it this week – you should check out the link as I have other samples with the door too!!

For this project, the door was cut out of textured cardstock and then I cut a silhouette of the same color in a non-textured cardstock so I could have a solid door.  Then I had a yellow felt star on hand and colored it orange with my Copic marks to add to the top. For the door handle I found some extra hardward that was perfect.  😀  I love how it turned out.

Thanks for coming by and for leaving such wonderful comments yesterday.  {blush}  I hope you’re equally inspired today and if you get lost in the hop, just check out the list below.  See ya later, aligator!
Your next stop in the hop is the fantastic ALISON!

Welcome to Hollywood Day 1

Welcome to the combined release hop for Make it Crafty and Simply Betty Stamps!!  We have so much exciting goodness to bring you that we had to divide it into three days.  😀  What’s the theme you ask?  Hollywood!   For this post I’ll include all the basic details of the release, hop and prizes then a little more personal for the next two days.  ;D

I’m lucky to be the first on the hop!

Simply Betty Stamps has a range of characters from Betty Monroe, through to Action Chris the movie director!!  Make it Crafty has a range of background scenes perfect to switch and match with your famous characters!!  Here’s my project for the day which uses Hollywood City Corner, Christian the Dark Hero and Action Chris.

Of course we are going to have heaps of fun with this theme so June 1st  and June 2nd we will be showcasing the release and then June 3rd we’re bringing you a fun guessing game… Will you be able to guess the movie??  There’s a grand prize involved and we’ll be giving you some clues to help!!

Join us for the two inspiration days and leave a comment along the way for your chance to win a selection of new images.  There will be FOUR winners each day receiving a surprise character with matching background digi stamps. Then on June 3rd, guess 6 out of 12 movies correctly and you will have a chance to win the Grand Prize!

What’s in the Grand Prize?  Glad you asked because I have those details too.  LOL  The Grand Prize includes a DVD Movie of your choice PLUS the whole collection of MiC & SBS digi stamp Hollywood release images!  In addition, a Second Prize will receive the whole collection of MiC & SBS digi stamp Hollywood release!

Can’t wait?!!  But we know some of you just can’t wait so both Betty and Zoe are offering you
25% off their Hollywood collections between June 1st and June 3rd!

We hope you have lots of fun with us this weekend!!!

Jolly Santa

The challenge over at Make it Colourful this week is to Colour on Kraft paper and you’ll want to join in on this one since it’s actually the last challenge!  Zoe has some other things planned up her sleeve so things are going to be a little different – you’ll just have to stay tuned.  BUT before you worry about that… here’s some samples from the current challenge.

I colored these with Prismacolor Pincils on Kraft paper.

For those who were around when I posted my last Prismacolor Pencil project you might remember that I didn’t like it – and I’d have to be honest that I don’t hink my opinion has changed yet.  LOL  It’s so different from Copic Markers that I just don’t feel that I have a knack for it and its difficult to get my brain wrapped around the color system.  I’d like to say never again, but knowing my history and the word “never” that would be a sure sign of it happening again real soon!  He he he

Kiara

We’ve got some new releases at Little Miss Muffet Stamps to show off and the theme is sort of centered around Critters and Combos – however, I couldn’t resit adding a few extras and a little Wee One too!  😀  Check out the LMM Challenge Blog for the DT projects and then head on over to the LMMS Store for some shopping!  I released everything today instead of dividing it up – so check it out.  😀

The card I made today was inspired for a dear friends.  I needed to make a simpathy card but nothing I had really expressed my feelings and all felt superficial at the time.  Creating a simpathy card in the moment is one of the hardest projects I’ve had for a while and it ended up taking me a week to complete  working on it here and there ad not knowing if it would ever be enough.  Anyway, I finally settled on knowing it was for a good friend and she’d probably appreciate anything I could send.  😀

Two of the imgages I used are from the New Releases this week which I combined for the dog – Kiara and Angel Accessories, both from Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  Then in the background I merged it with Timber Top Ridge from Make it Crafty.  I drew the dog lookint at Staffordshire Bull Terriers but I think he can be used for any bulldog types.

I think adding the embellishments on this card took just as long as drawing and coloring the imgages.  LOL  I’d add something and it just wouldn’t look right so I’d add something else and let it sit for a day.  This took several days, as I had mentioned, however, this is the ed result.  It may notbe the most perfect card I had made but I rather like how it turned out – so I was finally able to send it off.  😀

Christmas Princess Rio & Thanksgiving Rio

Welcome back for another peek at the Miss Rio Collection from Simply B Stamps!  There’s lots of other projects over on the SBS Blog that you can soak in as well.  😀  This evening I have two more holiday cards to showcase featuring Christmas Princess Rio and Thanksgiving Rio.  I’ve done them both in a holiday theme so I can start stalking up on my Christmas cards this year.

This first card uses Christmas Princess Rio from Simply B Stamps along with Santa’s Workshop from Make it Crafty.  Plus I used the Treasured Moments ticket die and sentiment stamps from Whimsy.

For some reason the cards are turning out more blue and I wasn’t able to figure out what color I needed to add or subtract.  The red and blues are actually spot on but the white is what turned out blueish – maybe it’s just my perception but anything else I tried made it too green or red.  O’well, I’m sure they’re fine.
This next card uses Thanksgiving Rio from Simply Betty Stamps and in the background I used a Little Village Scene from Make it Crafty.

This combination reminded me of Christmas dinner’s way back when I was a kid and the snow was abundant. I’ve now moved to a warmer climate and winters like this are things we can only dream of now. LOL I think the whole state of Texas would shut down if we got this much snow… that looks like at least two or three feet piled up on those roof – wow, could you imagine it? Not here I can’t. 😀

Underwater Castle

The challenge for the last two weeks at Make it Crafty Club House was to color rainbows and I thought I’d try an underwater rainbow since the new underwater images were just released.  😀  So I printed out Underwater Castle from Make it Crafty and this is what I came up with.  Don’t forget to check out what everyone else made too in the Rainbows Gallery.

For my coloring I started with the rainbow and made long streaks while ignored everything else in the water.  I wanted a really bright look and knew that after I added blue things would get muted a little so I made sure to use brighter, more neon colors.  After adding the blue streaks, I then colored the rest of the image.

For the sand I tried to go for the bright white that is sometimes seen in the shallow tropical waters – you know, the paradise kind of water that is crystal clear and almost looks like glass.  Yeaah… that’s where I wanted to be.  😀  I used E44, E43, E42, E41, and E40 but stayed more towards the lighter colors.  Then I used bright colors again for the coral, seashells, fish and everything.

The last thing I did was use my white gel pen and color in the bubbles to make them stand out a little more.  The image actually didn’t take that long to color, maybe 30 minutes, and by starting with the rainbow I felt I could toss it out if needed without wasting too much effort.  However, it didn’t turn out so bad so I didn’t need to start over.  😀

That’s about it for the rainbow challenge.  You should give it a try with your next water project!  Thanks for dropping by and I hop you’ve been a little inspired today.  *Hugs
