Julliette

I’ve actually had this page done for ages and was saving it for later in case it “fit” into a challenge – the only thing was, all of the challenges at Make it Colourful have been more complex than a “simple” image! LOL But this serves as a great reminder for other things going on and I’m finally going to share Julliette with you!

For my project I used Julliette and Victorian Chaise by Make it Crafty and believe it or not, I’ve colored them separately then cute each out and poped them on the page with dimensional foam inbetween each layer. To help redefine the lines after cutting, I took my Copic Multiliner brush marker out and went around the edges in black.

I was working on my technique of shadows in all those folds of her dress and ruffles and this might not have been the perfect image to start on – but it gave me plenty of chances to experiment with! I like how some areas turned out better than other and in the end I felt more comfortable with this look.

The journal page was decorated with some new black paper I found plus scraps of script, calendar and musch sheet decorative papers. I wanted to stay away from laces and ribbons and keep the focus on the eligant dress – so I used a piece of film strip for the horizontal element and the embelishments were kept plain in color but fancy for the theme.

I can’t image what walking around in all those layers of cloth would be like but I would sure love to have curlylocks like her. ;D Here’s a close up of her face and torso.

Batty Princess

We have a fantastic new challenge for you this week at Make it Colourful and it’s certainly and challenging challenge! We want to see Coloring Mist on your project!! But the good news is you can use any medium you want as long as your coloring. 😀 So get out your markers, paints, pencils, and anything else you can find, and come join us this week!

For my project I created mist on the Spooky Graveyard from Make it Crafty and I found Batty Princess from Kraftin’ Kimmy from my stash to pare up with it. I thought she would be perfect walking out of that graveyard so princess like!

The mist was a little difficult to start on but I followed a few tips from Delphine and jumped right in. First I Googled “morning mist” then used T0 and T1 to lightly color in where I wanted the mist to be. Then I started building up the around those areas getting darker and darker with the Toner grays. Finally, I started added color and bringing out the elements.

The sky was colored with light circles going from T0 secquentally down to T6 with a little B91 and B93 mixed in with it. I colored Batty Princess with blacks as well keeping with the theme but enjoyed giving her green eyes and red hair. The red hair mixture is from Annika and I think it’s my new favorite combination – D59, E19, E08, and YR14.

Most of the color comes from the paper and I had to cut, tape, rearrange and glue to get it to fit but I’m happy with how it turned out. The border paper was 6×6 and I had to get it to fit around the 5×8 paper…. so no peeking under the graveyard image!! LOL Finally I added a small tag and some silver flowers to finish it off. I loved how it turned out and hope it gives you some ideas.

Jada

This is my second new release preview from Little Miss Muffet Stamps this week and this gal is named Jada – she just got back from a day of shopping and coming home with her goods!! I’m sure those bags are filled with Copic markers, paper, embellishments and chocolate! LOL

For my journal page today I used the new released Jada image from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and combined her with the Romantic Window from Magnolia Stamps. Come check out all the new release this week over at the Little Miss Muffet Challenges blog – the design team have come up with some fabulous designs!!

My page is kind of a hodgepodge of supplies because I started out with the red star decorative paper in the background and decided it was too bright. Rather than waste the paper and remove it from the page, I started building up other papers on top and used neutral and muted embellishments to help dull down the red. I think it worked. ;D

I wish I could find some more burlap ribbon as I really enjoyed using it on this page – it’s a great neutral color and adds a lot of texture. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out the next time I head to the store. Lastly if you can see… I’m almost finished with this journal book!! Only one page to go and this book is finished. There is NO WAY it is closing but all those pages make it perfect to display it on my desk and I can easily flip the pages to match my mood.

I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:

Die Cut Dreams Challenge #98 – flower power
She’s Gone Digital – art journal linking party
Jen’s Digi Stamps – anything but a card
Sweet Stamps Challenge #33 – anything but a card
Creative Stamp Friends Challenge #34 – anything but a card

School Girl Tia

Remember these gals? Of course… this scene was featured all by itself last Saturday and I was finally able to get them onto a journal page! ;D For this project, I used School Girl Tia and Bookish Tia from Some Odd Girl then set in front of the Sunflower Garden by Make it Crafty.

Last week I had put an orange decorative paper behind the images with a satin black ribbon which halted all creativity I had! Lucky for me the challenge was a coloring challenge and I didn’t necessarily need the rest – so I pulled everything off and started from scratch.

This time I used a black and green background paper which worked much better. That meshy stuff is Punchinella Ribbon that I found online. I also added some faux stitching around both gray papers and two large lacing Xs next to the cat. Finished!

I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:

She’s Gone Digital – Art journal linking party
Some Odd Girl Challenge – stitching

Betty & Christian Addams

It’s Saturday and we’ve got another challenge for you over at Make it Colourful – this week we’re challenging you to color with Blacks & Oranges! So what was the challenge again? I seriously had to look it up several time *while* making my journal page – I just couldn’t remember! So alas, I have a lot of blacks and some oranges in my coloring. LOL

On my page I used the pumpkin scarecrow portion of Haunted Halloween House from Make it Crafty (plus some Mini Dragonflies chippies), Betty Addams and Christian Addams from Simply Betty Stamps, and two tombstones in Epitaphs from Inkadinkado.

I decorated the rest of the page with a graveyard theme and used muted colors for a drab and dreary feel. Isn’t it romantic!? The felt was cut with dies from My Favorite Things and the roses are part of a ribbon that was cut into section.

The orange is YR18, YR14, YR12 and YR21 and I used all four shades of black on the project. The clothes were done in Neutral and Toner shades, the hair in Cool and the tombstones in the Warm shades. I had colored the pumpkin scarecrow so long ago that I don’t remember the colors – however, the blacks/grays and oranges are in there too!

Brooke

Welcome to the New Releases for Little Miss Muffet Stamps and I have four new girls for you this week, starting with Brooke and Melanie! Head on over to the Little Miss Muffet Challenges blog for all the new release inspiration by the design team.

For my project I used Brooke from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and placed her sitting on The Dock by The Pixie Cottage. All of the new girls this week are bare foot and ready for some spring frolicking on fresh new grass and splashing in the cool ponds.

I created this page using warm tones on the paper and some cool tones in the coloring to help it look like the first warm days of spring just setting in. This week we’ve had a good break in our relentless heat and it cooled down dramatically and it’s felt like spring all week – it’s been so nice!

The rest of the page was decorated with chippies from Make it Crafty, some twill tape from my stash and some flowers from Prima… oh yea, and a tag from Tim Holts finishes it off. Hope you like the new journal page and come check back tomorrow for another. ;D

I’d like to enter this into the following challenges:
