Marvin the Bat

I made this card using Marvin the Bat from The Stamping Bazaar designed by Marina Neira. Don’t forget about the double digi giveaway happening now at The Stamping Bazaar blog! On this card I added a few subtle details such as the looped earrings and sparkles over the stars on the background. This little guy is so versatile and I love the contract those bright pumpkins give… it’s feels like the middle of the night, a perfect time to play for Marvin. ;D

Did you know? Bats are the only mammals naturally capable of true and sustained flight. By contrast, other mammals said to fly, such as flying squirrels, gliding possums and colugos, glide rather than fly, and can only glide for short distances. Bats do not flap their entire forelimbs, as birds do, but instead flap their spread out digits.

Christmas Blessings

As you might have noticed, I often make more than one post in a day! But now is the time you’ve been waiting for and using random.org, the WINNER of the BLOG CANDY is…

Karen B.CONGRATULATIONS!

Contact me with your mailing address and I’ll get it right out to you. Thank you everyone for becoming a Follower and leaving such wonderful comments for me to read!!

I made this card using Christmas Blessings from Whiff of Joy. I made this card for the Whiff of Joy Challenge blog which theme this week is Thank You. The other challenge is to color an animal with a technique that was demonstrated on the challenge blog.

Although the card doesn’t explicitly say “thank you” it is my way of saying Thank You for the wonderful time I had being a Guest! My Guest DT term has ended with Whiff of Joy and this is my last official post as a design team member… however, it’s certainly not going to be the last Whiff of Joy creation I make!

Thank you Katharina and all the wonderful gals on the Whiff of Joy Design Team – I had so much fun!

Did you know? The Granny Ramsey Smith green apple is a tip-bearing apple cultivar. It originated in Australia in 1868 from a chance seedling propagated by Maria Ann Smith. It is thought to be a hybrid of Malus sylvestris, the European Wild Apple, with the domestic apple M. domestica as the polleniser. Granny Smith apples were not introduced to the United Kingdom until 1935 and then to the United States in 1972.

Fashionette Lil Lolita 50’s Lilith

I made this card using Fashionette Lil Lolita 50’s Lilith from Tickled Pink Stamps. This challenge this week at Lil Lolita Boutique is to create a card or project based on the sketch provided. I rotated it and used it to decorate a notebook I had available.

I used paper-piecing on most of it and made sure to glue everything down instead of using tape. Now it really is stuck together and great for using! The other challenge is about the letter G and to create a card or project using these three things: Girl, Green, Glisten. For glisten, I sprayed a shimmering mist over the notebook and also used Crystal Effects on the skulls and shoes!

Welcome Winter

I made this card using Welcome Winter from Softpencil. The challenge this week at Lollipop Crafts is to create a card or project using Glitter, Sparkles or Gems – should be easy as pie so come join us! I used glitter on the snow and for a little detail I added stitch marks to the bunny so it would like the girl’s snuggle friend.

Did you know? A strudel is a type of layered pastry with a filling inside, often served with cream. It is most often associated with Austrian cuisine but is also a traditional pastry in the whole area formerly belonging to the Austro-Hungarian empire. The oldest Strudel recipe is from 1696, a handwritten recipe at the Viennese City Library, Wiener Stadtbibliothek.

Shane Playing Basketball

I made this card using Shane Playing Basketball from The Stamping Bazaar designed by Marina Neira. This is an excellent stamp for both a boy or girl but it also has some sentimental history too which really made it fun to use!

I’ve decided to also send this one to Operation Write Home along with the other cards I made. I figured they probably need lots of boy cards! Together, my Mom and I pulled a bunch of cards from our stash to bundle and hope it helps out.

Did you know? Jumping spiders are have a very interesting tarsal section. At the end of each leg they have hundreds of tiny hairs, which each then split into hundreds more tiny hairs, each tipped with an “end foot”. These thousands of tiny feet allow them to climb up and across virtually any terrain, even glass.

Perfect Poison

I made this card using Perfect Poison from Kraftin’ Kimmie. I couldn’t resit doing one more card and wasn’t sleeping well anyway. So, the challenges are to create a card or project with a spooky/Gothic or Halloween theme and to use a pumpkin. I’ve have a stack if Kraftin’ Kimmie stamps that I haven’t gotten to yet and this was a perfect opportunity!
