Punky Teens & Emo Back 2 School

The 9th Day of Christmas Challenge at Simply Betty Stamps is to create a card or project representing the Ghosts of Christmas Past from the story A Christmas Carol. I used three image as there was a mix-up at the temp agency… apparently all three ghosts were called for the same job!

Did you know? According to Dickens’ novel, the Ghost of Christmas Past appears to Scrooge as a white-robed, androgynous figure of indeterminate age. He had on his head a blazing light, reminiscent of a candle flame. He carried with him a metal cap, made in the shape of a candle extinguisher. While the ghost is often portrayed as a woman in most dramatic adaptations, Dickens describes the Ghost of Christmas Past only as “it”.

Party Time Louisa

The challenge this week at The Stamping Bazaar Blog is to create a card or project based on the sketch provided. I made this card using Party Time Louisa from The Stamping Bazaar illustrated by Marina Neira. The silver on this Christmas paper made it a perfect New Year’s card and Louisa looks like she is having fun! Come on over and play along – with last week’s freebie it will be fun!

Did you know? The Elk or Wapiti is one of the largest species of deer on the Earth and one of the largest land mammals in North America and eastern Asia. In the deer family, only the larger moose (which is called an “elk” in Europe) and Sambar rival the elk in size. Some cultures revere the elk as a spiritual force and in parts of Asia, antlers and their velvet are used in traditional medicines.

Peppermint Patti

The challenge this week at Lollipop Crafts is to make gift tags and what better time to do it. This is one that I made using Peppermint Patti from Fairy Knoll for a Christmas gift. I removed her fairy wings and colored her up in the traditional reds and greens of the season.

Sandy Claws & Boogie

It’s time for the 8th Day of Christmas Challenge from Simply Betty Stamps and this one challenged us to use Sandy Claws from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I don’t know about everyone else but finding Sandy Claws to use on a card was the biggest challenge! What did I do? I had to draw one!

I ended up finding a similar image of Sandy Claws and Boogie online at Fanpop.com and drew a duplicate then colored it with Copic markers. Once it was finished I discovered this also meets the challenge criteria at The Butonesque Dolls… Ooogie Boogie Fun! Don’t miss the holly berry spiders!

Did you know? A Christmas Carol is a novella by English author Charles Dickens first published in 1843. The story tells of sour and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge’s ideological, ethical, and emotional transformation after the supernatural visitations of Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The novella met with instant success and critical acclaim.

Update: I was the winner at The Burtonesque Dolls for this challenge!

Lola

I made this card using Lola for the 7th Day of Christmas Challenge at Simply Betty Stamps. The challenge is to create a card or project using one of their Emo stamps and this is my newest arrival. We were also challenged to use the colors lime green, turquoise and purple – it wasn’t easy to pick the right papers but I finally found a combination that I liked. The colors are soft so click on the pictures for a larger view of the subtle details.

The sprig used has pastel purple flowers and green petal which add a subtle look. The gift was used from a miscellaneous stamp then cut and put on top of Lola’s hand with a foam dot to add dimension.

Gingerbread Plushie

The challenge this week at Lollipop Crafts is to create a card or project Welcoming Winter. The cool blues next to the vibrant reds reminds of cold winter days and frosty windows. So to kick up for inspiration, I made this card using the free Gingerbread Plushie from The Stamping Bazaar.

I colored the scarf to match the gingham ribbon and added a small gingerbread cookie cutter trinket as a simple embellishment. I thought the pair together was cute.

Did you know? Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s. It involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne.
