Laugh a little

And sometimes you need to laugh a lot! In making this card, I enjoyed combining metal dies and the Whimsy Blending Brushes to create this soft and colorful scene. The background was created using the elephant foot then I used ink to color it blue and green. Lately, I’ve been making all of my cards from white cardstock and then adding the color later. It’s a great way to utilize all those dies but also to make sure the colors match throughout the project. So in this case, that blue I used in the background was also used for the sky. Lastly when I colored the Happy Elephant, I made sure to give it lots of wrinkles around the face.

Let’s party!

Let’s get this party started! Here’s another card using the new Chippy Paint Background stamp and those cute awesome balloon animals. I have my Party Animal Balloons coordinating die this time and let me tell you that was a lifesaver! I also paired these elements with items from my stash and ended up with a bright fun celebration card. These animals balloons are a must have – super simple to color and the cards I’ve been making with them have been quick and easy. You’ll certainly see a lot more of them from me in the future!

Be wild at heart

I have another cute elephant to share! For this card, I basically used the same supplies as the card yesterday with only a few changes but ended up with a completely different looking card. A lot of that has to do with the colors but also the layout contributes to that. At first I didn’t like the colors – what do you think? But then I added some heavy black and some black accents around the words which I think helped brighten it up. Isn’t that weird – to add black which brightens it? I thought so. This one is certainly out of my comfort zone but in the end I like how it turned out.

Have fun and be free

There’s a new release at Whimsy Stamps today and I enjoyed making this card to showcase some of those products. I fist took the laughing elephant from the Elephantastic Elephants clear set then paired it with the new background and sentiment stamps. And if you’ve noticed I used one of my favorite pairings on the dies that frame it all. This little elephant is one of my favorites and is really fun to color. This time around, I went with a simple gray color but then really focused on the highlights of her tummy, face, hands and such. She makes me giggle. … oh and before I go, I must say that I love the new Whimsy Blending Brushes!

Balloons make me happy

They really do make me happy. They seem to be always used at celebrations or at times that we need cheering up. There must be a science between balloons, happiness, appreciation and love. If you find an article about it then send it my way. Nevertheless, I enjoyed using the Party Animal Balloons clear set to create this card. I went with pastel colors and a soft green background. With the sentiment I chose, I think this is versatile enough that I can use it for almost any occasion.

A sweet 3rd attempt

I’m excited to showcase my 3rd attempt at coloring Polka Dot Pals Iona‘s hair. When I set out, I had the idea that I wanted to color detailed hair and make it look like Merida from the movie Brave. I thought having individual strands and super curly hair would be quiet the challenge and it was. I wasn’t able to accomplish exactly what I wanted but this was as close as I could get.
