Looking for that Mylar shine?

There are many ways to color shiny balloons and sometimes I wonder if it will turn out in the end. Most of the time it does. In this example, I enjoyed coloring the black one more than the orange. However, once I got it on a card with some other details then they booth look as cheery as ever. This is just one of the projects we did at the Sproatmeyer Coloring Toolbox Retreat.

It’s happening!! Today marks the first day of the Sproatmeyer Coloring Toolbox Retreat and this is our first project. But there’s more to this an what meat the eye – this project is actually about testing different papers and learning the different qualities of a few most popular blending card stocks. Does the ink stay on top or does it soak into the paper? Do you need to apply dark first or light first? Is blending too easy or not easy enough? These are just some of the questions you’ll be figuring out.

Polka Dot Pals Fern is now available to order!
Welcome my friends! With this version of Polka Dot Pals Fern I went with a kindergarten-school-teacher theme. I figured that would be one place that kids might be wearing masks and playing with animals. I think it turned out adorable! I used two other Polka Dot Pals sets to complete this theme which are listed below.

Everything is awesome when you’re part of the team. He he he
Here’s another Polka Dot Pals Fern project and this one was colored on Bright Creations alcohol Ink Art Paper. I thought I was getting a lot of choices to use with my markers but turns out that there are alcohol ink paper that isn’t for blending – and this is one of them. This type of paper works great for alcohol techniques such as the background on this card. But for blending – not so much. All the ink stays on top of the paper so you can push it around and create fun patterns. And now I know. 😉

It’s an awesome day to have a good day! This little gal is sitting out in the front yard with her sweet little ducky friend daydreaming together. This is Polka Dot Pals Fern and I colored this one Bee Paper Artist Marker paper. This was also one that I colored Live on Facebook so I hope you were able to catch that. If not, stay tuned and follow my stuff to be notified of future Live sessions and inspiration. I love how this card came together and I think it makes for a perfect Everyday-I-Love-You-So-Much-You-Mean-The-Most-To-Me card. Yeah, one of those cards.

I don’t have anything today from the new releases but you can head on over to Whimsy Stamps to see all the goodies. Today, instead, I have a project using Polka Dot Pals Fern which was colored on Neenah Desert Storm paper. I love this look of coloring on a craft-type paper but still being able to use my markers and this is the perfect mix. It has the blending capabilities of Neenah paper plus the cardboard look of craft paper. Personally, I think you need to have both this paper and Polka Dot Pals Fern in your collection. 😀
