Cheshire Chibi Girl

The project I have to share today is a mixture of three different stamps plus some doodling on the side. The character is Cheshire Chibi Girl from Stamp Anything. She is part of the Down the Rabbit Hole kit and Ann was kind enough to share the digital version for me to color. The face was replaced with the one from Polka Dot Pals Syeda from Whimsy Stamps. Then the background is a freebie from Sandy Allnock called Stay Home Stay Safe. Lastly, I doodled some flying geese in the background to finish off the scene.

Check out the YouTube video where I show how I colored the face:
Coloring Polka Dot Pal Add-on Faces

I started this project by coloring the sky. I knew I wanted to go with something non-blue and that would help me set the color pallet for the rest of the project. Unfortunately, it sort of threw me off and so I don’t think the colors coordinate as well as I would liked them to have. But it’s all good and still fun.
After coloring the background and buildings, I jumped into coloring the beanie hat. The original character has a cat but I really wanted to add some extra coloring details and went with a knitted hat instead. Since I printed the image out in a light gray, I just used creative color placement and colored right over the cat hat.
The face and hair was colored while recording so you can watch the video for those details. In the foreground, I added a sidewalk with some grass details. Lastly, I added some flying geese silhouettes in the background to help break up the skyline.

Polka Dot Pals Mason’s Unicorn

A while back I had stamped an extra unicorn from the Polka Dot Pals Mason set. I’m not sure if it was a good stamp or not enough room around it but I didn’t need it and set it aside. I figured I could use the back to re-stamp something. But a better idea came along and I ended up using it for this bookmark.

The sentiments that come with the Polka Dot Pals sets are longer but sometimes I can find shorter words to use when needed. So for this project, I found “ABLE” within “HUGGABLE” to use on the bookmark.
No sooner did I have this bookmark done than it was claimed by an avid reader in the house. Sigh, I will have to make another one. I needed one too but I’m more glad that she’ll enjoy using it.

Polka Dot Pals Syeda Prairie Piglet DCS

I’m excited to share that I have TWO new YouTube videos uploaded and they both feature this project. This is a digital coloring scene from Whimsy Stamps named Polka Dot Pals Syeda Prairie Piglet. It’s a complete scene that is ready to color so there is no merging or cropping.

Check out my YouTube videos:
Clothing with No-Lines
Adding Grass Details

The first video I created shows the coloring on the clothing. This image was printed out in a light gray color for a no-lines effect. The second video shows how I added the grassy details in the foreground.
I kept the card simple. I trimmed up the scene by using a large border die with stitching then adhered it to my card base. I then added some glitter glue to her headband and boots plus some clear glaze to the frog’s eyes.

Mason Atlas Jar Die – Lemonade

Could this be pink lemonade or watermelon juice? Either way, it looks refreshing. This is yet another project done with the Mason Atlas Jar die set – I really need to put it away but it’s so fun to use! For this one, I just used the die and colored the diecut. The inspiration came directly from my new toy in the office – an ice maker.

For coloring, I started at the bottom and tried to focus on the various shapes and colors. I colored a little at a time and sometime changing between the gray and pink if I had one spot figured out over another. Once that was done, my confidence increased and I was able to do the rest rather quickly. The lemon was actually the fun part.
This is a work in progress photo with the inspiration photo in the background.
I didn’t think there was much to this card so for added measure, I mounted the jar on a Wobble Action spring. This is the largest piece I’ve had on a wobble so it was surprising how much it actually wobbled.

Valentine Stripes

I jumped… into videos and I have no clue on what I’m doing. I’m sure I’ll be making all the same mistakes that any noob does so bare with me. For this project, I’m coloring Valentine Stripes by Art Impressions and the video is of the hillside background. This background technique can be used for any stamp that you want to have an outdoor scene.

For the YouTube video of the background, click HERE.

The video goes over the hill, far shrubs and the sky. At that point,m you can stop but I decided to go back in and add some grass. I also added some white dots to make it look like tiny flowers. The huggable sentiment is from Polka Dot Pals Atlas and fit just right.
Don’t forget to check out the video. There was a lot of work that went into it – obviously since it was my first with many failed attempts to get there. But I’ve saved templates for everything and hope the next time will be a breeze. For the YouTube video of the background, click HERE.

Baby Sea Creatures

I’ve been waiting to color these cute Baby Sea Creatures again and this time decided to put them all on the same card and do a sea collage. I went with no-line ink but I regretted it half way through and wished I went with a blue or black. Ah well, maybe next time.

For most of the critters, I kept the coloring simple to three colors – a light, medium and dark. I used a black marker for the eyes to stand out and then a white marker to add some more bubbles.
Here’s a work in progress photo which shows the colors that were added to the bubbles. That details kind of got lost when all the blue was added unless you look for it. I think it looks completely different with a white background.
