Lavender the Quilter

Happy Birthday QuiltingInTexas!! It’s my Mom’s birthday this week and I made this card especially for her. ;D This image is Lavender the Quilter from Kraftin’ Kimmie and has been high on my list since she’s been released. I colored her with blue eyes and blonde hair to resemble what my Mom would look like when she first started quilting.

The quilt was actually fun to color but it was difficult to keep the pattern visualized as I was coloring – for example, I kept getting the yellow patches confused between an hourglass pattern and the one I was using, the pinwheel.

The rest of the card is a CASE’d from Elaine as I loved her simple layout and the details she added were perfect. I managed to find a matching flower and finished it up with some chippies from Make it Crafty. Hope you like the card and Happy Birthday Mom!

Melanie

Welcome to another challenge with Little Miss Muffet Stamps and this time we’re asking for Things with Wings! I used Melanie on my mini journal page and since she was catching a falling star, I gave her an angel wing.

The rest of the page is pretty simple and I even had a chance to use some forgotten star eyelets that have been sitting in the back of my cupboard. That felt nice to use some of the old stuff. 😀 If you get a chance, you should make sure to visit the Challenge blog as there is some stunning creations by the Design Team!

I’d like to enter into the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge – Things with wings
Jen’s Digi Stamps Challenge – anything but a card
Quirky Crafts Challenge #19 – anything but a card

Tips, Tricks & Techniques 0x024

I had the chance to play with the fluorescent Copic markers and see how they compared with the other colors in the Sketch line. So for my own notes, this is how I would describe them and I thought I would share them with everyone. Enjoy!

FV2 is a nice shade of purple, doesn’t look fluorescent, and would shade well with BV11 and BV13.

FRV1 is everything you think a pink fluorescent would look like, would probably fit between RV02 and RV04 the best but it is slightly more shocking.

FYR1 is also very fluorescent and looks like the darker shocking shade to YR82 and would blend well with that color.

FYG1 is very similar to my office yellow highlighter and is the same tone as Y11 but slightly greenish. I can’t see the point to this color at all when compared to Y00, Y02 and Y04, just the fluorescent factor.

FY1 is also very fluorescent and about the same hue as Y17 but slightly lighter.

FYG2 looks just like YG07, no fluorescent factor that I can see.

FBG2 looks just like BG02, no fluorescent factor that I can see.

FB2 also doesn’t have a fluorescent and would probably fit right in between B24 and B26 but has a slight tint of B16 in it.

I ended up ordering FV2 but don’t see the need to get the rest, at the moment. I wouldn’t even know how to use the true fluorescent colors (orange, yellow, pink, and yellow-orange). However, I’d welcome any ideas!! 😀

Mini Gothilia

Here’s another page in the mini journal featuring the new Halloween images from Make it Crafty… this one is Mini Gothilia! I wanted to color her resembling Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride so I stayed with blues and grays and tried to give her a glowing look. Also because her dress was tattered, I gave it some extra grunge around the bottom.

This page is decorated with the same papers as the previous one but for a different look I added a torn areas and some orange ribbon mesh stuff. Finally I added silver roses from my collection which finished up the look. Hope you like her. ;D

Mini Dracula

I’ve managing to get all these fun new Halloween images from Make it Crafty colored and placed into my mini journal. I tried to use the same papers on all these Halloween pages so they have a uniform look. This image I used on this one is Mini Dracula and to give him some color I gave him a green/gray tint to his skin and then added red to the inside of his cape and eyes.

The dragon in the background is an upper portion of a bookmark. I originally got a panel of bookmarks to add color too, however, that was three years ago at a renaissance festival…. so don’t you think it’s about time I used them?! LOL The bats are diecuts and created out of felt which finishes off the page. Hope you enjoyed it! 😀

School Girl Tia

It’s another challenge day at Make it Colourful and this week we want to colour with purple!! This challenge is sponsored by Some Odd Girl and for my project I used School Girl Tia and Bookish Tia then set in front of the Sunflower Garden by Make it Crafty.

Today I just have a colored image for you and I used two shades of purple. For the clothes and eyes I used V91, V93, V95 and V99. Then for the hair I used V112, V15, and V17. I also used a a new skin tone combination which is E000, E00, E21, E53.

Time to get out those purples and lets see what you got – and don’t forget to upload your pictures into the new gallery! 😀
