Dragon Pull My Finger

I wanted to show some of my past watercolor attempts which were from a few weeks ago. This one features Dragon Pull My Finger rubber stamp from Whimsy Stamps. I love the images by Dustin Pike and his dragons are so easy to color…even if it is with watercolors.

Colored with Karin Brushmarker Pro watercolors on Craft Perfect cold press 300gsm paper.

I would say I had some difficulty with the watercolors, paper, brush or something. As you can see on the hand and the lamp, I tried to blend too much on the paper and scrubbed the paper away. Overall, it was somewhat frustrating and I wanted it to be more defined. So I pulled out the colored pencils and did some touch up work.

Touch up with Polychromos colored pencils and a white gel pen.

I like this result much better and felt that I salvaged the image. I can still see where the blue brush marker was used to color the sky in the background so I’ve been watching out for that to avoid. In the before and after, I can definitely see a difference on the eyes, tummy and lamp.

Galaxy Galore Background

It’s a new release at Whimsy Stamps and I’ve created a card using the new Galaxy Galore Background along with the Bundled Up stamp in the foreground. There are loads of other inspiration from the Whimsy DT this week.

I started with embossing the background in white then used my sponge to ink on the blue and faded it towards the bottom. For the girl, I colored her with markers first and then used the pencils to create the knitting. I’ll be forever grateful to Annabel for enlightening my world with this texture. I love it!

These are the Copic Markers that I used:
W10, E49, 47, 33
E31, 33, 35, 23, 27
W5, 7, 9, C3, 5
E04, 02, R05, 12
BG49, 45, 53, 10
Here are Prismacolor Pencils used:
1027, 1015, 992, 938, 105
Distressed Ink: Tumbled Glass

Polka Dot Pals Joshua

There’s a fun new release at Little Miss Muffet Stamps and you can see more inspiration on the LMMS Challenge blog.  For my project I’ve merged a scene using the Polka Dot Pals Joshua series release which includes all the following digital stamps:

I used my Prismacolor Pencils and colored on a taupe or krafty color. I actually don’t know what color it is but I thought it would work well with a desert theme. Then I colored the sky mostly blues and greys so I’m glad I had a little bit of the taupe color showing.

Merry Moose-mas

My project was inspired again by Annabel and her awesome knitting pattern which I colored again on this Moose. This is Merry Moose-mas from Whimsy Stamps. I colored the scarf and hat originally in Copic markers but wasn’t able to get the details I was looking for. So I then went over it with Prismascolor pencils and brought back in the details.

These are the Copic markers I used on Merry Moose-mas:
B21, 95, 39
BG11, 13, 23, 18
C1, 3
E42, 43, 44, 47
W1, 4, 6, 8, 9
E51, 53, 55, 31, 53
This and other Whimsy Stamps are available at Little Miss Muffet Stamps.
