Princess Tilda

Shocking! Can you believe it? I made another Magnolia card… and added another face! I tried out a different style nose and smile on this Tilda but might like the other one I did earlier, however, I think she’s still cute with a little grin. ;D

I made this card using Princess Tilda from Magnolia and another Love Carriage from Make it Crafty. This one is done in soft pastel colors suitable for a princess! I even added glitter to her shoes – every princess needs glittered shoes.

I kept the colors to a minimum but piled on lots of embellishments including buttons, brads, lace and even Dew Drops. The layout is a simple one, even though it’s mostly covered, and I distressed the edges a little. As a final touch, I added a little bit of glitter here and there.

Did you know? Barbie is a fashion doll created in 1959 by an American businesswoman, Ruth Handler, who credits her inspiration to a German doll called Bild Lilli. The Bild Lilli Doll was a German fashion doll produced from 1950 to 1964, based on the comic-strip character Lilli by Reinhard Beuthien. Reinhard was ordered to make a “filler” to conceal a blank space in the Bild-Zeitung (German newspaper) of June 24, 1952. He drew a cute baby, but his boss didn’t like it. So he kept the face, added a ponytail and a curvy woman’s body and called his creation “Lilli”. The cartoon was an immediate success so Beuthien had to draw new ones each day.

  8. Love the pastel tones hun. I am trying!! must admit though it's growing on me. Plus you are clever in your positioning… you might persuade those who don't really like them to like them with faces!! xxoo

  9. The carriage makes a perfect backdrop for Tilda! I really admire how you have given her features – if I'd attempted that she'd just look weird!!HugsAnnika

  10. Okay, I'm jealous. I want the carriage. Where do I buy that. I think I got the Princess. I came over from the other blog. Grandma's Pearl and before that from the yahoo group. Just traveling around through the ether. someday, I'll learn how to make a blog and then I'll really be dangerous. Your princess and her carriage are beautiful. Thanks for sharing and thank you for having some awesome blog candy on your challenge. Aloha from Hawaii.
